Massive drone attack on Russia: the GUR confirmed the destruction of four Il-76 aircraft in Pskov

On the night of August 30, when Ukrainian air defense was fighting enemy missiles and kamikaze drones, four military transport Il-76s were destroyed in Russian Pskov, 700 km from Kiev. In addition, several more of these aircraft were damaged.

Andrey Yusov, a representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, spoke about this, RBC-Ukraine reports.

“Enemy targets were hit at the airfield in Pskov. There were explosions, as a result of which four Il-76s were destroyed and several more were damaged.Yusov said.

He noted that at present the information is being specified, including about the loss of enemy personnel.

“But since it was at night, the losses of personnel, if any, were insignificant. It was a defeat with the use of special equipment and the work of the relevant groups on the territory and territory of the aggressor state.Yusov added.

According to the publication, this operation was organized by the GUR MO. However, the intelligence itself does not officially comment on the involvement or non-involvement in this event.

Recall that on the night of August 30, one of the largest drone attacks in Russia took place.
Six different Russian regions were under attack. But Pskov suffered most of all, where Il-76 military transport aircraft were hit (they transported the military, equipment and ammunition). According to local media, Pskov was allegedly attacked by 12 drones. They tried to bring down, in particular, and from small arms, but to no avail. After the attack, a fire started at the airport, which was extinguished by more than 50 employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Air defense did not work.

The Russian publication We Can Explain, citing eyewitnesses, writes that the air defense in Pskov did not work on time, but already simulated damage after the planes were already on fire at the airfield.

And this “show” continued for several hours.

It is noted that Russian sources write about the destruction of at least two Il-76s, and two more were allegedly damaged. The airport is closed.

Tonight, explosions were also heard in Bryansk, Kursk, Orel and the occupied Crimea. Drones did not reach the Russian capital this time. But drone attacks on Moscow have already become fairly commonplace. Military expert Roman Svitan believes that this is the right direction of work, since military aircraft or airfield control systems can be hit by UAVs.
