Eksclub Konoplyanka destroyed the myth of Mourinho’s invincibility in the finals: a video review of the decisive match of the Europa League

On Wednesday, May 31, the first European Cup final of the 2022/2023 season was held in Budapest. In the decisive match of the Europa League, which last season was won by the German “Eintracht”, representatives of Spain and Italy met.

As it turns out, they have this dislike. So the Poles pulled themselves up, especially since Wroclaw is not as far from Budapest as it is to Seville - some 700 km.

In the duel of the “invincibles”, Mourinho again tried to take his own and win his 27th (!) trophy in his coaching career (and the Portuguese, who had never played at a serious level, began as a translator for Englishman Bobby Robson at Porto). But in the first half, the Spaniards answered the ball of the Argentinean Dybala after the break … with Mancini’s own goal. In regular and extra time, the opponents, who earned 13 (!) yellow cards for both teams, failed to change the score on the scoreboard.

For the third season in a row, the fate of the main trophy of the Europa League was decided in a penalty shoot-out. And in the “lottery”, thanks to the shortcomings of the Romans, Mancini and Ibanez, the players of “Seville” turned out to be stronger - 4:1. The seventh final of the Europa League of the former club of Yevhen Konoplyanka is the seventh triumph! And at the same time a ticket to the group stage of the Champions League. The myth of Jose Mourinho’s invincibility in the finals is destroyed …

Recall that two more European Cup finals will be held on June 7 and 10. In the decisive confrontation of the Conference League in Prague, English West Ham and Italian Fiorentina will meet, and the Champions League triumphant will be determined in Istanbul in another Anglo-Italian duel between Manchester City and Inter.
