Injury payments 2023: what is provided and how to get it

Defenders of Ukraine who were injured during the war are entitled to cash payments.

As noted attorney and lawyer of Ario Law Firm Anton Didewe are talking about several types of payments, according to Facts ICTV.

In the event that a soldier was injured during the performance of a combat mission, he has the right to:

• monetary allowance of a soldier;

• payment of so-called combat, that is, additional remuneration in the amount of 100 thousand;

• one-time financial assistance.

“The payment of additional remuneration (combat) is carried out for the period of stay on inpatient treatment in healthcare institutions (including foreign ones), including the time of moving from one hospital healthcare institution to another, as well as staying on leave for treatment after a serious injury according to the conclusion (decree ) military medical (medical expert, medical) commission “the lawyer notes.

The amount of the lump-sum payment for the injury depends on what its consequences are. In case of disability, military personnel are paid:

• 400 times the subsistence minimum established by law for able-bodied persons as of January 1 of the calendar year, in the event that a military serviceman is diagnosed with a Group I disability. That is, in 2023 it is 1073600 UAH.

• 300 times the subsistence minimum established by law for able-bodied persons as of January 1 of the calendar year, when a serviceman is diagnosed with Group II disability (UAH 805,200 in 2023).

• 250 times the subsistence minimum established by law for able-bodied persons as of January 1 of the calendar year, when a serviceman is diagnosed with Group III disability (UAH 671,000 in 2023).

“In the event that a serviceman is injured in the performance of his military service duties, which led to partial disability without establishing his disability, the amount of payment may be 70 times the amount (UAH 187,880) or 50 times the subsistence minimum (UAH 134,200), established by law for able-bodied persons as of January 1 of the calendar year”adds the lawyer.

To process a payment, a serviceman must contact the head of the Central Military Medical Commission of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or the head of the Regional Regular Military Medical Commission.

To get help, you will need documents:

• Referral or application for a military hospital commission.

• Passport of a citizen of Ukraine and its certified copy.

• Application, written in one’s own hand, for the payment of a lump sum in connection with an injury or disability.

• A copy of the document certifying the causes and circumstances of the injury. This document must prove that the soldier was injured on the battlefield, and did not inflict injury on himself;

• Certificate of the medical and social expert commission on the establishment of the percentage of disability and the decision of the relevant military medical institution to recognize the injury.

• Certificate of the medical and social expert commission on the establishment of a disability group.

Privates and sergeants must present a military ID and its certified copy, as well as a certificate of military service. For officers – a certificate or military ID of a reserve officer and a copy of it, as well as an extract from the service record.

Also, all available medical documents are provided that characterize the state of human health before the start of military service, during military service and after dismissal; documents of military medical examination: certificate of illness, certificate of the military medical commission, originals and their certified copies; certificate of the circumstances of the injury or its certified copy and/or certified copy of the Accident Report; certificate of a participant in hostilities and their certified copy.

“If you participated in the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl accident or suffered as a result of the Chernobyl disaster, you must present a certificate and its certified copy”– adds Anton Dide.

Recall that military personnel are entitled to certain payments in the event of dismissal from service.
