“We are planning to move during the war”: Nino Katamadze wants to settle in Ukraine

Georgian singer Nino Katamadze, which has supported our country since the first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, has been to Ukraine several times, where it gave charity concerts. In early May, she returned to Kyiv again to support the Ukrainians in the fight against the invaders. And she added the Ukrainian song “Barashniki” to her repertoire. The artist says that she is not afraid to go to Ukraine during a full-scale war, but on the contrary, she is looking forward to every visit.

“When I told my band that we were going to Kyiv with a concert, they said that we are ready to play where it is impossible, - Nino told the ZhVL project (1 + 1 Ukraine). - Therefore, I do not go to Ukraine, I literally fly and run. We gave a concert in the subway and I can say with confidence that it was the most unforgettable concert in my life. We specifically created such a sound with a quartet so that you can express support through our music. There were times when the subway train would slow down so it wouldn’t interfere with the singing. I still remember the eyes of the concert guests, it is impossible to forget, their tears and the whole story is incredible.“.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the singer has been helping displaced people from Ukraine, especially supporting the psycho-emotional state of children.

“In 2008, when the war in Georgia began, I just became a mother, Katamadze remembered. - My son was three months old. Of course, it was very difficult, the world was completely different. There were no social networks then, no open borders. All this Russian propaganda worked in order to utilize all the truthful information.”

Nino knows firsthand about Georgian hospitality - the doors of her house are always open to many friends and acquaintances.

“At home I am a real mistress who burns artisanal bread, - says the singer. - My yeast is four years old and I grow it at home. Most often I communicate with my son, cook dinner for a man. Recently, I have already planted parsley, cilantro, all on the balcony. I try to rehearse at home all the time, I have a small place with a big piano. That is, without music, my day does not pass.

Now, most of all, the singer dreams of moving to Ukraine.
