Are stocks disappearing? Cheap products find buyers faster

Must read

Do you want to buy food products at a promotional price? It is best to do this in the morning on the first day. Regular shoppers and bargain hunters line up outside supermarkets even before stores open. In this way, you can save up to several hundred zlotys per month, customers say. Others have empty shelves with promotional prices.

“Only today, using your MB card from 20:00 to 23:30, buy two identically selected candles and get one of them for free,” this was the SMS message clients of the nationwide discount network received on Monday. The sender also indicated a maximum limit for candles, otherwise they can be purchased while supplies last. Buying six candles, customers received six more for free. The company turned to its website for more detailed information. The problem is that many discount stores in this chain have been out of candles for several days.

The chain held a promotion on candles, but there were no cheaper products in the supermarket.

They bought everything last week – said one of the sellers. – People took everything that was on sale. – added. Only so-called cartridges. Another store sold out its last candles on Saturday. To buy any candle, you had to visit several, and in some areas of Warsaw even a dozen stores of various chains. “Where are the candles?” – this is the question buyers asked sellers in the last days of October. In response they heard: “We no longer have candles for sale.”.

A similar situation arose with the sale of chrysanthemums in nationwide supermarkets, where prices ranged from 8.99 to 16.99 zlotys per piece. Lidl and Biedronka have introduced promotions, thanks to which when buying three chrysanthemums, one of them costs 1 penny. As the sellers recall, the flowers sold like hot cakes.

Cheap flowers quickly found buyers. Chrysanthemums are a bestseller

Customers bought in bulk and then called their loved ones to help carry the sprawling flowers home. – notes one of the sellers. On Monday or Tuesday, all that was left of the chrysanthemums were cards with prices. A few tens of meters away, in a nearby flower shop, you could buy the same chrysanthemums for 40 zlotys apiece.

It’s not just shoppers who expect daily price cuts in stores to discuss rapidly disappearing deals at discount stores. On social media, Internet users describe situations where they left work early to buy cheaper goods and found only empty shelves.

Price promotions. Cheaper products are quickly disappearing from shelves.

One of these situations was revealed by Mrs. Anna. Last week a woman wanted to buy butter at a promotional price. Instead of the traditional price of 6.99 zlotys for a pack of butter, one of the store chains offered a promotional price of 3.99 zlotys, but for the purchase of four cubes of this product. Ms. Anna visited several nearby supermarkets and found empty shelves everywhere with information about the promotional price. She heard the same thing from her colleagues at work.

She learned from the salesperson that she needed to come first thing in the morning on the day of the promotion to get the cheaper items. – In our store, several dozen cubes of butter were offered at a lower price. Perhaps there will be something in the next delivery. – He said.

Shoppers lined up outside the store early in the morning. You could save a lot

Mrs. Alina, who checks food prices every day, speaks in the same tone. Two weeks ago, she noticed in an advertising brochure that kitchen towels could be purchased for free under the 1+1 promotion. By purchasing one towel for PLN 10.49, you will save twice as much. – There was a line in front of the store half an hour before opening. – he recalls.

“At six in the morning, customers went to buy promotional goods, but there were no towels on the shelves. The seller reported that delivery is expected soon. Buyers waited in the store so as not to miss this opportunity,” says Ms. Alina. When the product appeared in the store, everyone bought not two towels, as was on sale, but a multiple of them. Standing at the checkout counter, customers laid out two packages of towels, each time indicating the phone numbers of their loved ones. – he adds. Over the next few days, other consumers could admire the empty shelves with promotional prices.

Price promotions. The word “free” acts like a magnet on customers.

“The best-selling items are those that can be purchased at a discount of 30 to 70 percent. Customers are also very interested in the promotions 1+1 free, 2+1 free, second product for 1 zloty or second product for 1 zloty. – the seller lists. In his opinion, most cheaper products quickly find buyers within a few hours. “Even for higher-priced items, shoppers gather in small groups to purchase promotional items one item at a time. This is the case with more expensive chemical products or meat.” – he adds.

We checked the prices in the advertising brochure. At the end of October, you could save 72% when purchasing ground pork shoulder. for the second product. By purchasing several products at a promotional price, you can save from a few to several tens of zlotys. Sellers of one discount chain still remember how in the summer, on sale, raspberry tomatoes cost less than 3 zlotys per kilogram.

We placed the boxes on pallets and customers quickly selected the tomatoes for the bags. In order not to complicate our work and our customers’ shopping, we allowed them to take tomatoes directly from the boxes next to the warehouse. Sold out the entire range in a few hours – they add.
