Married at first sight has a huge audience of hopeful fans who want to see their favorite couple overcome the difficult six weeks of being married to a stranger and leave school happily. Unfortunately, the vast majority MAFS couples don’t make it out of trial marriage, and even those who decide to stay married after the first six weeks usually give up soon after. The New Orleans season brought several marriages that survived to decision day, but Woody and Amani moved on to MAFS Season 11 Hall of Fame and Notable Personalities. During the six-week process, there were several clear signs that this couple was different from the others. If one looked with a discerning eye, one could understand that both the bride and groom were truly ready for love. While there are several other couples in the show’s history who stay together, Woody and Amani are the true #CouplesGoals. And despite the last few seasons MAFS leaving even hopeful romantics without much hope, Woody and Amani are proof that the dating experiment show really works when two people are willing to do the work.

At first, it seemed like Woody and Amani weren’t right for each other.

Woody aka Woodrow Randall was full of personality when cameras visited him in New Orleans to surprise him with the news that he had made the final cut and was getting married at first sight. A stereotypical bachelor enjoying his freedom, Woody took pride in his extensive collection of clothes, hats and shoes. At first, his energy showed up as a playboy vibe, but upon closer inspection, it became clear that Woody is playful, family-oriented, and ready for the next phase of his life.

His grandmother lived with him not because he lacked the financial stability to live on his own, but simply because he liked being with his family and didn’t want her to be alone. Woody’s best friend Miles was filmed this season as well, and the bond between the two was a joy to watch. While Woody was happy-go-lucky and extremely comfortable with himself, Miles was much more guarded and shared that he experienced bouts of depression throughout his youth. Woody supported his friend, and at first viewers assumed that Miles would have a much easier transition into married life because he was much more serious. It was hard to imagine Woody, who had become the life of the party, being able to settle down and devote himself to one woman, let alone marriage.

When the experts showed up at Amani’s house, she was not nearly as playful as her chosen groom. It was clear that she was happy to be chosen, but she didn’t show the nervousness that many other brides showed. Amani was happy, but at the same time she knew very firmly who she was, and nothing could take her out of the image. As Amani prepared for her big day, she was curious but showed that she truly understood the process. Unlike Karenbride Maila, who was focused on finding out who her groom might be to make sure it would be a fair marriage, Amani resigned herself to trusting the process and committed to getting married no matter who was chosen for her .

Viewers held their breath as they watched Amani walk down the aisle to Woody on their wedding day, mainly because Woody’s charming personality and fashionable clothes couldn’t hide the fact that he was several inches shorter than Amani, especially in her wedding heels. Unfazed by Woody’s lack of height, Amani seemed pleased with her handsome fiancé, and it was clear that Woody was smitten by her beauty. Thus began a beautiful love story.

Amani and Woody ignored desirability politics in favor of true connection in ‘MAFS’

After overcoming the biggest obstacle to attraction – mismatched heights – they went on their honeymoon. They communicated easily and everyone was ready to have a good time together. When other couples were struggling at first, Woody and Amani were supportive but didn’t get too involved in the other couples’ problems. Unlike previous seasons, having two friends on the show could prove to be a stumbling block for the couple. While Woody and Amani were enjoying their vacation on the island paradise, Miles and his fiancee Karen were hesitant. Woody counseled Miles and Amani tried to support Karen, but they both remained neutral and never brought outside issues into their union.

Like any couple, let alone a Married at First Sight couple, Woody and Amani faced some disagreements during the six-week trial period. The biggest controversy came from Woody saying he would be upset if Amani cut her hair or radically changed it without telling him. Amani doubled down, insisting that the length and style of her hair was her choice, and Woody reluctantly acquiesced.

The only disagreement the couple dealt with on camera was whether to get a dog and how soon they wanted to have a baby. Neither was enough to ensure anything other than two resounding “yes” votes on Decision Day, when the couple met with experts to give the final verdict on their marriage. They showed up at the reunion just as synchronized as they did on their wedding day, and fans were able to breathe a sigh of relief. The couple overcame the difficult period after Decision Day and attended the reunion without any major problems, simply declaring the same love for each other as on Decision Day. Woody even shed a few tears, proving that his playboy days are far behind him and he’s committed to his new life as Amani’s husband and protector.

Fans got a glimpse into the Randall family when Woody and Amani opened a YouTube channel and began posting regularly on social media. They soon shared news of Amani’s pregnancy and then their first child, Reina. Woody and Amani are currently eagerly awaiting the birth of their second bundle of joy.

Amani posted a video from the “mother’s blessing” ceremony, in which she chose this round over the baby shower. She captioned the video: “Today I’m 36 weeks pregnant with #babyrandall2 and I’m so lucky to have such a wonderful support system near and far. I feel confident and strong; I’m ready for a home birth.

Woody and Amani’s ‘MAFS’ love story goes beyond the show

Amani and Woody offer a great plan not only for MAFS couples, but also for anyone who thinks they are ready for marriage. Wanting to give up your old lifestyle is not an option, it is a necessity. Woody thoroughly enjoyed being a bachelor, but when he agreed to the experiment, he decided to let go of his past life. Amani also joined the experiment, ready to take part in the process. Unlike some other brides, she didn’t have an extensive list of non-negotiables and didn’t take herself too seriously. It was clear to the viewer that Amani was looking for a reason to fall in love with her husband, not a reason to complain or not love him.

Show experts Pastor Cal And Dr Pepper did a great job with this couple, mainly because they were both willing to focus on what they had in common rather than the little things they didn’t have. This couple will forever remain a fan favorite because of their eagerness to enjoy life with each other. As Amani wrote on her Instagram in 2020: “Randall’s Way is Forever”and we love to see it.

Married at first sight airs every Wednesday on Lifetime at 8:00 pm EST. The show is currently set in Denver and is in its 17th season.
