Died in battles for Ukraine against Russian aggression famous biologist and military man Bizhan Sharopov. He has been missing since April 2022. This was announced on Facebook by the Bogomolets Institute of Physiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
“Today it became known that Bizhan died. Bold, cheerful, young. Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists, researcher, defender, young man, son. Condolences to family and colleagues. This is an irreparable loss for the entire team and loved ones. Rest in peace”- the message says.
Bizhan Sharopov was born in 1989 in Dushanbe (Tajikistan). Since 1995, he lived with his family in Kyiv. He was a member of the Revolution of Dignity. In 2014-2015, he fought in the Luhansk region as part of the Aidar volunteer battalion.
In 2016, he founded a private biotechnology company “Ukrainian Genetic Technologies” for the production of reagents for biological laboratory research in Ukraine. He was the chief biologist of UGT. In the spring of 2020, the company announced the creation of a PCR-based test system to detect the causative agent of coronavirus disease. 2019 defended his PhD thesis.
With the start of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the scientist returned to the army. He has been missing since April.
