Google is ending AI image creation. All because of controversy

Must read

Google, one of the technology giants, was overwhelmed by a wave of criticism from internet users immediately after the release of the latest version of its Gemini artificial intelligence model. The platform, which aims to create realistic images based on user descriptions, has come under fire for its depiction of ethnic and gender diversity.

Geminis, like many other models, must learn in a way that avoids dangerous or hateful content and brings variety to the content. However, users have reported that the model is overly biased towards creating images of women and people of color, resulting in inaccurate historical depictions.

Google has problems with artificial intelligence. Twins under fire

For example, some internet users have noted that Gemini depicts women and people of color in inappropriate historical contexts, such as depictions of Vikings or German soldiers from World War II. Google, responding to this controversy, announced a temporary suspension of the generation of images of people by the Gemini model. The company also assured that it is working to improve the algorithm to eliminate errors of this type.

The Gemini model has been described by Google as its “largest, most capable and most general” artificial intelligence system, but it still has issues with diversity representation. For this reason, the company decided to temporarily pause the generation of human images in order to make corrections and release an improved version of the model.

Artificial Intelligence Problems

Google isn’t alone in grappling with the challenges posed by generative AI models. Other companies such as OpenAI and Meta are also experiencing similar problems. Therefore, it is important that these companies continue to work to improve their algorithms and ensure that their products are as diverse and free of bias as possible.

The desire to improve the quality of generated content and eliminate errors and bias is becoming increasingly important, especially today as artificial intelligence plays an increasingly important role in the creation and processing of information. Ultimately, issues related to diversity and accuracy are critical to the success and trust of these technologies in society.
