At the beginning of each term, deputies receive new tablets. They will be able to buy them back in four years. Rzeczpospolita checked how much they cost.

Several years ago, all deputies were provided with official laptops so that they could read bills being voted on during Sejm sessions. This was done in order to reduce the amount of paper on which the designs were previously printed. At the end of the term of office, laptops are destroyed on commission to prevent the interception of data stored on them by unauthorized persons. However, deputies can buy equipment they have used for four years.

Sale of used laptops in the Seimas

“The Seimas Office is selling tablets that were used by members of the last term. In the case of parliamentary tablets, the cost is about 500 zlotys per piece,” we read in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The market price of these models ranges from 900 zlotys to even 1200 zlotys.

The deputies elected on October 15 have already received tenth-generation silver iPads equipped with a 10.9-inch display, 256 GB of memory and the ability to connect to the 5G network. The Sejm Office paid 2.7 million zlotys for the purchase of 600 devices.
