On October 1, we celebrate the International Moon Observation Night under the auspices of NASA. The Silver Globe is in an interesting phase with various events taking place around the world. How to look at the moon? See for yourself.

On the evening of October 1, the celebrations of the International Moonlight Night will begin. This is the perfect time to get up close and personal with Earth’s only natural satellite. Events on this occasion will be held around the world, and NASA has also published its recommendations.

“We invite everyone to take part in the celebration of the International Moon Observation Night. This annual event brings viewers from all over the world to the Silver Globe in the first quarter. This is an excellent phase of the moon for observing the Earth’s satellite,” NASA urges in its official post.

Last year, about 500,000 people from 122 countries on all continents of the Earth took an active part in the holiday. The US agency provides a map of events related to the attraction and encourages private ground-based satellite observation activities. The #ObserveTheMoon hashtag will appear on social media.

For the curious, the Americans have also prepared a detailed map of the Moon with points available for observation on October 1. Even the landing point of Apollo 11 will be visible. The official guide gives you 10 ways to observe the Silver Globe in a variety of ways - even with the naked eye.

How to watch the Moon in Poland?

In Poland, the meeting under the auspices of NASA takes place among other events at the Planetarium and Astronomical Observatory in Grodzisk Mazowiecki. There attractions are open from 17:00 to 20:30 Polish time. The Gdansk University of Technology also invites you to watch.

NASA’s official stream of sightings will be for night owls only. It will start at 01:00 Polish time on Sunday, October 2nd. However, on the official website of the agency you will find several more places from where broadcasts will be conducted.
