NASA director: it is quite possible that Polish astronauts will fly to the moon

Must read

Alexander MacDonald, NASA CFO, visited Poland. During the meeting at the Economic Forum in Karpacz, he confirmed the recent words of the head of the Polish Space Agency.

NASA is working with partners from the European Space Agency, including Poland, on the first phase of the Artemis program. It involves the launch of the Space Launch System rocket from Cape Canaveral in Florida. The mission has already been postponed twice due to technical problems with the machine, but the agency is determined to continue testing.

Director of NASA in Poland

Alexander MacDonald, NASA CFO, spoke about the agency’s plans, the Artemis mission and cooperation with the Polish Space Agency during the Economic Forum in Karpacz. During an intimate meeting, he willingly answered all the questions asked. There were also jokes about conspiracy theories about the first moon landing. However, McDonald did not want to comment on the information about the UFO.

The main topic of conversation and questions from the audience was, of course, the Artemis program, i.e. an attempt to return astronauts to the moon. The first part of the mission, which has already been delayed twice, includes checking both the SLS rocket and the behavior of the Orion capsule. It will be an unmanned flight that will fly around the Moon and return to Earth.

– NASA has been working on getting back to the Moon for a long time. There were different plans, and we designed different rockets. Now on the launch site in Florida is the largest rocket known to man. When the leak is fixed, we will fly to the moon – assured the director of NASA. – If it turns out that the rocket will work, like the protective coating in the Orion capsule, in two years we will send astronauts to the moon – added.

Poles will fly to the moon?

In February of this year, in an interview for W “prost”, the director of the Polish Space Agency prof. Grzegorz Wrochna said that “It is not excluded that there will be Poles among the astronauts working on the Moon”. – We started negotiations with NASA about what we could do specifically within the framework of this program. Polish technology will definitely fly to the moon. We are even thinking about a separate technical mission. We also do not rule out, although I do not promise this, that there will be Poles among the astronauts working on the Moon – said the head of POLSA.

Alexander MacDonald was also asked about the participation of Poles in the Artemis program. – The astronauts have not yet been selected, but since NASA is collaborating with, among other things, ESA during the construction of the Gateway, it is very possible that in the future European astronauts, including Polish ones, will be able to fly as part of the Artemis mission. Today I’m not promising anything, I’m just saying it’s possible… He said. – We have reached the point where we are ready to return to the moon as humanity. We will not stop even if there are problems. NASA cannot fail – he assured.
