On Wednesday, September 6, it became clear what the future of Kamil Grabara would be like. The goalkeeper, expelled from the Poland national team due to injury, has just signed a contract with Wolfsburg. The contract will be valid from next season (i.e. from 2024/25).
Recall that Kamil Grabara is from Ruda Slenska, but he made his first serious steps in youth football in Rukh Chorzow. However, during his adult career, the goalkeeper did not play a single official match in Poland at the PKO BP Ekstraklasa level. Spotted by foreign observers, Polish talent landed in Liverpool in 2016.
Kamil Grabara is Wolfsburg’s new player.
However, the British Isles were not favorable to the Pole. Grabara functioned as a Liverpool player until 2021, but the Beatles did not get their serious chance in the city. Two years later, the player was bought by Copenhagen. Already in the first season, together with the new team, the Pole won the Danish championship. In addition, he improved with the national cup and another title (2022/23).
Grabara also had the opportunity to make himself known in the elite Champions League. The 24-year-old also made his senior debut for Poland in June 2022, appointed and placed in the starting XI by then-coach Czesław Mihniewicz. Moreover, Grabara was included in the squad for the World Cup in Qatar (2022).
As for the Champions League, in the recent match of the fourth qualifying round, the Danish champions managed to beat Częstochowa Rakova with a Pole at the gate. Thus, “Copenhagen” will again appear in the European elite.
Taking advantage of the break in the national team (the goalkeeper was out of the game due to injury), Grabara was officially introduced as a new player for Wolfsburg. He will join the German Bundesliga club at the beginning of the 2024/25 season, and interestingly, another representative of the country, midfielder Jakub Kaminski, will become his club friend.
Decisive time for Poland
The team led by coach Fernando Santos will face the Faroe Islands and Albania at home next Sunday (i.e. 10.09) during the September training camp. The next two Euro 2024 qualifiers will take place in October. First, a trip to the Faroe Islands (12.10), and then a fight at home to erase the stain, with Moldova (15.10).
In November, the Poles will play the last double. First, the match against the Czech Republic (November 17), which ends the qualifying stage for Euro 2024, and then a friendly match with Latvia (November 21).
