For Kamil Stoch, the start in Lake Placid was the first performance in the USA in his career. After the competition, the 36-year-old athlete told PAP that he did not have high hopes for this tournament. He also noted the small number of fans. “However, I expected a little more fans after what I heard from friends after last year’s competition in Lake Placid,” he admitted.
“But it was very, very nice.” In fact, a lot of fans came and I thank them for the support and good energy they give me,” he added.

When asked about acclimatization, the ski jumper replied that he felt good. Unfortunately, the Polish team encountered some problems when traveling to the USA. – Due to airline strikes, we had to change flights. Before the competition I didn’t have any problems sleeping, but I got up quite early, at six in the morning. I felt refreshed. “I had the strength to achieve my training goals,” he continued.
– I am glad that I had the opportunity to perform in the USA for the first time. Despite the fact that I have a lot of experience in participating in world championships, this was my first time doing something. That’s the beauty of the sport, he concluded.
