Great news for Hurkacz. This is close to historical progress

Must read

Hubert Hurkacz has started the new season well. The tennis player is currently at the highest position in history, but is close to improving this result. Here’s what the latest ATP ranking looks like

The start of the season is good for Hubert Hurkacz. He became the first ATP player this season to achieve ten wins, which is a very good forecast for further competitions. The ATP 250 tournament in Marseille went by like a storm. Unfortunately, the native of Wroclaw did not defend his last year’s title, and in the semi-finals he was surpassed by Hugo Humbert. Tennis players faced each other during the Australian Open this year, and the Pole was the better player.

ATP Ranking: Hurkacz approaches seventh place

After being eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Australian Open, Hubert Hurkacz rose to the highest position of his career – eighth place. Until now, no Polish tennis player has occupied such a high position in the ATP rankings. In the latest ranking, the Wroclaw resident maintained his position with 3595 points.

Crucially, he closed the gap to seventh-placed Holger Rune and is now just 100 points behind the 20-year-old Dane. Moreover, he increased his lead over ninth-place Taylor Fritz to 445 points.

There have been no changes at the top of the table, with Novak Djokovic remaining at the top of the table, followed by Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, Jannik Sinner, Andrey Rublov and Alexander Zverev. Stefanos Tsitsipas is in tenth place. The greatest progress was made by Hurkacz’s recent rival, Humbert, who moved up to 18th place after his victory in Marseille.

Other Poles in the ATP rankings

As for the rest of the Poles, Kamil Majchrzak, who returned after a 13-month suspension, is in 801st place. The most secret (not counting Hurkach) is Max Kasnikovsky. He rose from 271st to 267th place. Daniel Michalski ranks slightly lower – 286. In the fifth hundred you can find Kacper Żuk (409th), Filip Peliwo (447th) and Martin Pavelski (471st). Next are Olaf Pieczkowski (514th place), Pawel Juszczak (649th place) and Marcel Zielinski (716th place).

Now Hubert Hurkacz has gone to the Netherlands, where he will take part in the ATP 500 tournament in Rotterdam. The Pole is seeded fourth; Jannik Sinner, Andrey Rublev, as well as Holger Rune and Hugo Humbert, with whom the Wroclaw native can meet in the quarterfinals, will also take part in the fight.
