What a match in Zawiercie! Varta defeated Asseco Resovia

In the 18th round of the PlusLiga, Warta Zawiercie played a hit match against Asseco Resovia from Rzeszow. Both teams have high goals for themselves this season, but no one expected the match to turn out like this.

In the match at the top of the PlusLiga, Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie and Asseco Resovia met. Both teams have set high goals for themselves this season, as their results confirm. Before this match, the hosts were in third place with 41 points. Following them were their today’s rivals – with the same number of victories, but fewer points. They were three points behind Michal Winiarski’s men.

PlusLiga: Asseco Resovia beat Warta Zawiercie in the first set

Quite unexpectedly, from the very beginning of the match, Asseco Resovia, suffering from injuries, had the upper hand over her opponents. The visitors took the lead 2:9 and then pulled back to 5:14. We can openly say that no one expected such a development of events.

Later in the set, Asseco Resovia’s lead was cut to five points, causing Giampaolo Medei to ask for the first timeout of the set. As a result, the volleyball players of both teams provided the fans with a lot of emotions: Zawierc’s team led with a score of 22:19. As a result, this game ended with a score of 21:25 in favor of the Rzeszow team.

Great show in the third set

It was only in the second set that the Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie volleyball players took the lead for the first time. The score became 3-2, but in the next game Asseco Resovia equalized. This time the hosts outscored their opponents by four points (12:8), which allowed them to calm the game down. As a result, Michal Winiarski’s team led 22:16 and won without any problems – 25:18. This is largely due to Karol Butrin, who was almost right.

The third set was very even from the start. Only individual mistakes by Zawierc’s team allowed Asseco Resovia to take the lead – 15:18. Thanks, among other things, to Mateusz Benek’s serve, the hosts managed to quickly level the score (19:19). Although a moment later the guests scored two points (20:22), the hosts again managed to equalize the score (25:25). The Rzeszow team was the first to have the standard ball, but did not take advantage of it. With the score 27:27, Karol Butrin came out to serve. The Warty Zawiercie striker sent two serves, thanks to which his team won the game (29:27) and took a 2:1 lead.

The home team dominated the fourth set again. Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie volleyball players scored five points – 13:8, which they maintained until the decisive stage of the set (21:16). As a result, the Rzeszow team recovered a little from the defeat (22:19), but in the end they lost 25:23 and the whole match 3:1.
