Unexpected decision by the coach. He did this after qualifying for the Euros.

Must read

Albania and the Czech Republic left the Polish group for the eurozone. The Moldovans fought until the end for tickets to Germany, but lost to our southern neighbors in the decisive battle. Having taken second place, Jaroslav Silhavy made an unexpected decision.

After the Polish national team lost its chance to qualify for Euro 2024 against the Czech Republic, it now has a chance to win a ticket to Germany. The Moldovans, who became the discovery of these qualifiers, tried to stand in their way. On the eve of this match, our southern neighbors had problems because three players chose a disco instead of regeneration, so they had to leave the training camp.

Unexpected decision after qualifying for the Euro

These unrest did not stop the Czechs from dotting their i’s. Jaroslav Silhave’s team won with a score of 3:0 and took second place in the group. After this meeting, the coach of our southern neighbors surprised us. After the last qualifying match and qualifying for the Euros, he announced that this would be his last match on the bench for the national team. “I would like to thank the guys for the way they played the match after all these events and how we achieved our goal of reaching the European Championship,” he said in an interview with CT Sport a few minutes after the final match with Moldova.

“Even though we are happy, we decided before the match that we will not continue playing for the national team. I informed FACR President Petr Fouska about this. The pressure was already enormous, sometimes I didn’t even realize it. This also influenced our decision,” Silhawi continued.

The Czech coach had to face pressure and constant criticism

The Czech coach has been heavily criticized in recent times, with local journalists even calling for his sacking after he and the players risked missing out on the chance of direct promotion. He was helped to retain his post until the end of the qualifying rounds by the Polish players, who, having drawn with Moldova, had to start looking at the results of other teams.

“I am convinced that we have done our job and left behind good results,” he concluded. Jaroslav Silhavy joined the Czech national team in the fall of 2018. Under his leadership, Czech players played a total of 58 matches. First in the Nations League, it retained its place in League B, and a year later qualified for EURO 2020. On the other hand, the team did not qualify for the World Cup.

The head of the Czech Football Association, Petr Fusek, also commented on this decision. “First of all, I want to express my satisfaction that we managed to get to the European Championship. Silhava’s coach spoke to me and informed me of his decision. We have him to thank for this qualification and for the last five years leading the team to success at UEFA EURO 2020. Speculation about the name of the new national team coach is premature,” we read in the fotbal.cz press release.
