According to TVP Sport journalist Michal Chmielewski, 36-year-old Stefan Hula has decided to end his sports career. Soon he will make the last jump in his long ski jumping adventure.

The current season for Stefan Hula is not successful. So far, he has managed to score only four points in the World Cup, which, compared to Maciej Kot, is the worst result among all Poles and only ranks 73rd in the overall standings. We already know that he won’t be able to improve this achievement. Thomas Turnbichler regularly overtakes him in terms of calls to the national team, and the player himself plays in the Continental Cup and it is in this competition that he will give his last push in his professional career.

Stefan Hula retired from professional career

Stefan Hula achieved his first success in ski jumping in 1998 when he won the unofficial world championship for children - FIS Schueler GP in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Then he developed his sports career in junior competitions, including the world championships in this category. Since 2003, he played in the B team of the Polish national team, and under the management of Heinz Kuttin, he took 13th place at the World Junior Championships in Styrn and became vice-champion of the world team.

He was then transferred to the A team, where he played until 2023. The highest was 13th place at the World Cup in the 2017/18 season. He has won two medals in international competitions. He won them at the Olympic Games and World Championships in ski flying. In the individual competition, he took the highest fifth place at the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang. At Planica, he set his personal record for the longest flight. He jumped 236 m. After all this, he decided to end his career. He will make his last jump today, that is, March 12, during the second competition in Zakopane.
