The Ukrainian Football Association has ceased cooperation with the head coach of the national team Oleksandr Petrakov, who was not accepted into the Kyiv Terrodefense, the official website of the UAF reports.
“For me, this period of my life will forever remain a warm memory in my heart. said the 65-year-old Alexander Petrakov. — I want to thank the players of the national team and the coaching and administrative staff for the fact that for a year and a half we were the only whole, united and inspired by the idea of protecting the interests of Ukraine on the football field and beyond.
We tried to achieve as much as possible and give Ukraine the joy of victories in the most difficult period in the modern history of the state. I am also sincerely grateful to the entire staff of the Ukrainian Football Association for many years of cooperation and to UAF President Andriy Pavelko for their trust.
We thank our best fans in the world for their warm and sincere support and belief in us. I remain the most ardent fan of the Ukrainian national team. Glory to Ukraine”.
Recall that Oleksandr Petrakov, who led the U20 team to the gold of the World Championship, was appointed acting coach of the Yellow-Blues in August 2021 after the resignation of Andriy Shevchenko, and in November of the same year he lost the prefix “and. about.”. Under his leadership, the Ukrainian national team played 15 matches, in which they won 6 wins, drew 7 times and lost twice, while failing to rise to the elite division of the League of Nations and win a ticket to the 2022 World Cup.
Sergei Rebrov, who, however, still has a valid contract with the Al-Ain club from the UAE, is wooing football publicity for the position of the new “helmsman” of the Ukrainian national team. Already on March 29, our national team will start in the Euro 2024 qualifying tournament with an away match against England.
Earlier reported that the coach of the youth team of Ukraine Ruslan Rotan headed one of the leaders of the UPL.
