One of the stars of the Polish volleyball team that won the 2006 World Cup was Pavel Zagumny. The titled defender in the podcast “In the Shadow of Sports” admitted that playing for the team of Raul Lozano was a big breakthrough for him, because before that the team did not shine with success.
In 1996, Pavel Zagumny made his debut in the Polish national team, and he achieved his first significant success in the Polish national team only a decade later. The playmaker, along with a team led by Raul Lozano at the time, won the world No. 2, a turning point for Polish volleyball.
The team with Zagumny as a quarterback also won the European Championship in 2009, and three years later - in the World League. The culmination of the quarterback’s career in the national team was the 2014 World Cup, where the Poles turned out to be the best team in the world.

Recalling these achievements years later, Zagumny expressed regret that only in 2006 did the headquarters begin to reign in the international arena. - If success had come earlier, maybe there would be more of these medals on our necks. I got my second volleyball life from Raul Lozano, but I won my first medal at the age of 29, he admitted in the podcast “In the Shadow of Sports”.
In the same program led by Lukasz Kadzevich, Zagumny also remembered the beginning of his career in the championship, namely the game in Chorny Radom. - There were no club dinners and diets. Each received 20 zł for dinner. We were happy because there was still something left of this amount,” he admitted. The former spokesperson also said that the black female volleyball players in the club’s coach had no refrigerators, so they had to leave food on the windowsill. “The next day, all the food was broken by the birds,” he said.
