Prime Minister Denis Shmigal wants to reduce the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food in order to get rid of its chairman Nikolai Solsky, who is considered one of the main candidates for the post of prime minister. This opinion was voiced political scientist Vladimir Sonyuk in his blog on the website “Censor.Net”.

“Professional public organizations expressed concern about the plans of the head of government Denis Shmygal to abolish the strategic Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, transferring its functions to the Ministry of Economy. Public figures noted the importance of Solsky’s ministry, citing world practice as an example,” noted the political scientist.

According to him, wide public support is not accidental, since Nikolai Solsky exists.one of the most effective ministers of the current Cabinet of Ministers.”

“Yes, in conditions of war and blockade, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture proved himself to be a successful anti-crisis manager, organizing the harvest and quickly resolving the problems of stopping the grain corridor. As a result, exports of agricultural products in 2023 increased to $22.9 billion, which was 7% higher than in 2022. Solsky is also successfully engaged in demining agricultural lands,” – Sonyuk emphasized.

The expert is confident that in such conditions, the abolition of the strategic Ministry of Agrarian Policy really looks like political intrigue within the Cabinet of Ministers, revenge or an attempt to remove a competitor.

In addition, experts and journalists have repeatedly called Nikolai Solsky one of the main contenders for the position of prime minister in the new cabinet. At the same time, the press began to talk more and more about the change of government of Denis Shmygal after a series of failures by the prime minister. Yes, he is indirectly accused of disrupting negotiations with Poland on unblocking borders and the too slow construction of fortifications,” – the political scientist summarized.
