“Will not give any strength to the front”: Yulia Tymoshenko called for the development of a motivational law on mobilization instead of a repressive one

Must read

The new law on mobilization, adopted by the Verkhovna Rada in the first reading, must be finalized; in its current form, it is repressive in nature and will not help improve the situation with the state’s defense. She announced this from the rostrum of parliament Batkivshchyna leader Yulia Tymoshenko.

“There is no doubt that we need mobilization, we need to defend our home country. But. they introduced us a repressive, unconstitutional law that unbalances society and does not give any strength to the front,” – Tymoshenko emphasized.

The law on mobilization, in his opinion, should motivate a person to defend his country, and not force him to do so.

“Those military men who are today motivated, professionally, devotedly defending Ukraine must be replaced by equally motivated, professional, dedicated people who will come and be able to defend our state, and not random people who were grabbed on the street, who are thrown to the front line almost unprepared “, – she emphasized.

Tymoshenko considers it wrong to introduce mandatory service for those mobilized at 36 months instead of 18, electronic summonses, restrictions on the rights of those who violate new norms, and expansion of the categories of persons subject to conscription.

How could it be possible to introduce a law that provides for compulsory electronic offices when half of the people do not have gadgets? How could a system of violence from blocking accounts be introduced into prison? …How could the first, second, third disability groups be reviewed again? How can single parents and mothers be thrown to the front if the second father has not officially abandoned the child? It is impossible to support such a law today,” – she emphasized.

The leader of Batkivshchyna proposes that the parliament assemble a working group and develop a “normal, motivational” law that will be, first of all, fair, that is, it will not divide society into those who sit in white shirts in offices, having armor or deferment, and other people who will be summoned by force in violation of their rights.

“This law divides society in half… It will not give our military, who have been fighting at the front for more than a year and a half, the opportunity to return home, it will not immediately release conscripts, it will deprive our wounded heroes of special status… This law is against the military, precisely because it is on the front line It is precisely the security forces who are given a reservation or deferment by this law who will not be able to get in… And, in addition, this law begins terror against the Ukrainians… Therefore, I insist that a special working group be created from all factions… to remove this law after the first reading everything that is unacceptable for Ukraine, to bring it into such a state that Ukraine would not be ashamed of it and that it would not be a copy of the same law that the enemies adopted on their territory,” — the leader of “Batkivshchyna” emphasized.

We add that Ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets also criticized the new draft law on mobilization.

Defense Minister Rustem Umerov called the adoption in the first reading of the mobilization bill the first step towards improving the entire process of conscription and military service.
