At the plenum of the Supreme Court of Ukraine, the early termination of the powers of the chairman of the court Vsevolod Knyazev, who was detained on a bribe of $2.7 million, was supported.
The Plenum of the Supreme Court expressed no confidence in the head of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Knyazev and prematurely deprived him of the status of the head of the court. The decision was supported by 140 judges of the Supreme Court, two voted against.
This was discussed at a meeting of the Plenum of the Supreme Court.
But Knyazev will continue to have the status of a judge – only the High Council of Justice can completely dismiss him from the judicial system.
Before the election of a new head of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the duties of the head of the court will be performed by the judge with the longest experience. So far, this is Luspenik Dmitry Dmitrievich.
Recall that earlier the judges initiated an expression of no confidence in Knyazev. The submission was signed by 138 judges out of 142 present. Later, a secret ballot took place. After that, an organizing committee was created, which prepared a draft decision on no confidence in the chairman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As reported, law enforcement officers exposed a corruption scheme involving the leadership of the Supreme Court. In particular, the head of the Supreme Court of Ukraine, Vsevolod Knyazev, was caught on a bribe of $2.7 million. Today, SAPO confirmed the detention of Knyazev, they are preparing him for suspicion.
