Despite the guarantee of 11 servicemen and volunteer Oleksiy Mochanov, the Kiev Court of Appeal refused to change the measure of restraint for the former Deputy Minister of Defense Vyacheslav Shapovalov in custody to house arrest. This caused an emotional reaction from a well-known blogger and TV presenter.
Mochanov doubts the guilt of Shapovalov, while he does not doubt the lack of competence of the prosecution.
“It is ridiculous to listen to these figures from the prosecution, telling how and what should have been done a year ago in the active phase. They, probably, from the Transcarpathian cauldron, where they were gathered, like damn it for a shift change, it was clear, ”- Mochanov is indignant.
First of all, in the case of Shapovalov, as in other landmark cases of the period of the Russian-Ukrainian war, according to the TV presenter, the presumption of innocence was violated: “If Shapovalov (Shaitanov, Marchenko, etc.) are guilty, establish the truth, prove guilt and imprison at least three life sentences or send the enemy’s engineering buildings to clear mines with their feet. But the way it is happening now is immoral. Low. Not fair. Not fair. Mean. It’s disgusting. It’s disgusting. Disgusting!”
Recall, as Vyacheslav Shapovalov’s lawyer Sergei Mityurin recently said, the ex-deputy minister of defense is accused of purchasing body armor, helmets and other ammo in the first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion to meet the sharply increased needs of the army. Some of these products are of poor quality.
According to the prosecution, the Ministry of Defense should have included in the contracts a clause on the compliance of NATO products with Ukrainian quality standards. In addition, do not work with suppliers on a 100% prepayment.
However, according to Mityurin, the mentioned purchases were carried out at a time when even the closest allies did not believe in the survival of Ukraine, so it was impossible to delay payment. In addition, all low-quality samples were immediately seized and did not get to the front, and suppliers compensate them with quality goods or money. And finally, says the lawyer, Shapovalov did not even sign the contracts he is accused of signing.
Given all this, the lawyer calls the case against Shapovalov completely absurd.
