Is there one diet for cancer patients that is better than another? Dr. Don Mussallem, a specialist at the American Mayo Clinic, emphasizes that this is not about one product or diet, but rather a diet that is dominated by a plant-based diet rich in fiber.

Dr. Moussallem also mentions disturbing figures that say as many as 97 percent. Americans do not provide their bodies with enough fiber. At the same time, no one doubts that after diagnosing an oncological disease, the right diet is one of the most important elements of the recovery process.

This is a diet with a predominance of plant foods, with an emphasis on healthy food, explains Dr. Mussallem, quoted by MedicalXpress. It is a diet based on a variety of fresh vegetables and fruits, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds.

What Can’t Eat Cancer Patients?

- Avoid highly processed foods. Avoid or limit red and processed meats, expert says. The American Cancer Society says it is not known if there is a safe level of consumption of red or processed meat. The World Health Organization has classified red meat as potentially carcinogenic.

Dr. Moussallem reminds you that meat doesn’t have to be the main source of protein in a healthy diet. They can easily be replaced with legumes - having them in your diet is two benefits in one, as you provide both protein and much-needed fiber. The American Institute for Cancer Research shows that every 10 grams of dietary fiber improves survival after a cancer diagnosis by 13 percent. - speaks.
