How to get to the doctor faster? I used this method myself and made an appointment for the next day.

Must read

Are you tired of waiting months to see a specialist? You might even have a free date the next day. All you need to do is check their availability through the National Health Trust’s search engine. Such a quick turnaround came as a huge surprise to me.

Long waits to see a specialist are a truly serious problem in our country’s healthcare system. Patients often have to wait weeks, months, and sometimes years to receive such medical advice. However, there are several ways to avoid such queues to see the doctor. The following methods will provide invaluable assistance in a situation where you really need help. I used it myself and surprisingly quickly turned to a specialist.

How to avoid queues to see a doctor? The National Health Trust’s search engine can help.

One of the best ways to avoid long queues to see a specialist is to use the NHS Treatment Date Guide. New free dates may appear there from day to day, for example, due to a cancellation of a visit. Just fill in the appropriate fields in the search engine:

  • what service are you looking for,

  • in which voivodeship,

  • in what city.

You can also use additional search options:

  • which hospital/clinic,

  • exact place of service provision,

  • Street.

When using a guide like this, sometimes errors creep in and available dates are displayed, but this is a situation that is valid a few days ago. Therefore, you should be vigilant during such searches. Via National Health Trust Treatment Dates Guide You cannot make an appointment with a doctor directly – You need to personally call the selected clinic or hospital. If a doctor’s appointment is long and you don’t have the strength to wait, you should look for an institution a little further from your place of residence. There is no regionality, so the patient can make an appointment in another place.

How to get to the doctor faster? Medical category by specialty

Each institution that has an agreement with the National Health Fund is required to maintain a waiting list. If the service cannot be provided on the date of notification, the facility must place the patient on such a list and then schedule a specific date for the appointment, test, or procedure. There are two categories of patients: emergency and stable cases. Urgent cases are given priority over people who have presented previously but whose condition is stable. It is also worth checking who can use emergency medical services.

However, if a person is expecting such an appointment, but his health condition is deteriorating – he should go to the clinic – then the doctor may decide to change the medical category and set an earlier date. Also, do not forget to cancel your appointment if you cannot come to the doctor – otherwise you will close the place for another patient, but also prolong the queue to see specialists.

The Ministry of Health reports a reduction in queues to see specialists

Recently, the Ministry of Health announced a new way to make an appointment with a doctor: it will be faster and easier. The first such changes are planned to begin in mid-2024. However, for now they will apply only to the registration of individual specialists, and in the future they will gradually expand.

“If a private institution allows you to make an appointment with a specialist via SMS or email, reminds you about it and makes it easy to cancel your appointment, such a solution can and should be implemented in the public health system. However, we must remember that this is more difficult than in the case of private institutions, since the scope of activity of public institutions is much wider than that of private clinics,” said Health Minister Izabela Leszczyna.
