The Ukrainian army continues to try to break through the Russian defenses, but it will be a difficult and lengthy process, playing to exhaust the enemy and waiting for his crisis, he told the Polish edition of PAP military analyst and journalist Mariusz Celma.
“In the conditions that we have, that is, in spite of everything, with a limited amount of heavy military equipment from the Ukrainian side, the absence of fighters and superiority in the air, as well as with a deep and fairly well-organized Russian defense, what is possible is happening. The Ukrainians are attacking the first line of defense mainly with artillery and targeting the rear to destroy Russian artillery, logistics and command, Mariusz Celma says in an interview. - Defending is always easier than attacking. In addition, the mined areas in front of the front line of defense create a huge problem for the Ukrainian troops, who in the spring received proportionately more light armored vehicles than heavy and specialized vehicles.

“The occupiers built defense lines in Zaporozhye during the months of occupation. In the simplest terms, it looks like this: behind the wide minefields, the first, advanced line of defense. Then follows the main line, theoretically better fortified, and after it the third line, which can be called the rear. All this means that the Ukrainian side will face a difficult fight, especially with a relatively small amount of heavy equipment and a short preparation period.“, he notes.
The situation can be improved by cluster munitions received from the United States, allowing more effective attacks on Russian positions.
