Petralia Soprana, located on a high ridge, is recognized as one of the most beautiful in Italy. It is located southeast of Palermo and offers cash incentives for new residents. The city council hopes that this program will contribute to an increase in the population and the revival of non-residential buildings, writes euronews.
Petralia Soprana is attracting new residents with a €5,000 grant. Funds can be received by individuals or families who decide to move to the town for permanent residence. To be eligible for the grant, participants must purchase and, if necessary, restore property in the municipality. The goal of the program is to stop a decade of depopulation in Petralia Soprana. Now the city is home to 2,992 residents and more than 50 non-residential buildings.
Those interested can contact the City Council directly. The village of Petralia Soprana is extremely picturesque. Narrow streets winding past medieval stone buildings overlook the misty valley below and Mount Etna. On the outskirts of the city, a monumental stone church rises on a rocky ledge. Life in Petralia Soprana is quiet, except for numerous local holidays such as saints’ days, carnivals and food festivals. One of the fairs is dedicated to lentils, which are used to prepare a traditional soup seasoned with wild fennel and chicory.
Recently, FACTS wrote about the benefits of celebrating, as well as the fact that Europe is in for a deadly heat this summer.
