In the village of Chervonoye, Zolochiv district, Lvov region, college freshmen were brutally beaten.
The incident occurred late in the evening in the dormitory of a higher vocational school, the regional police headquarters reported.
Senior students staged a so-called “initiation” for first-year students, during which they were beaten.
“On December 8, while monitoring social networks, Lviv police officers discovered a video in which several young guys, probably senior students of one of the educational institutions, in the presence of many eyewitnesses, alternately struck other guys, probably students, in the head and chest area – first-year students of the same educational institution. At the same time, the senior students used a boxing glove to strike,” – the message says.
The educational institution stated that they were shocked by such cruelty and behavior of young people and asked the police to look into this situation and take legal action.
The police said that all participants in the incident have been identified. The pre-trial investigation continues.
Based on the fact of the beating, investigators from the territorial police unit opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Art. 296 (Hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – restriction of freedom for a term of up to five years or imprisonment for a term of up to four years.
