On Sunday, November 19, former US First Lady Rosalynn Carter died at her home in Georgia. The wife of former President Jimmy Carter was 96 years old. Her death was announced by the Carter Center.
The reason was not disclosed. Rosalyn Carter was diagnosed with dementia earlier this year.
Mrs. Carter was rightfully considered her husband’s closest adviser. Unlike other first ladies, she participated in meetings of the presidential administration.
“Rosalyn is my best friend, the perfect extension of me, probably the most influential person in my life,” – Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States, told his aides during his time in the White House, which lasted from 1977 to 1981.
After the couple left Washington, Jimmy and Rosalyn devoted themselves to the humanitarian field.
Jimmy Carter is now 99 years old. He is the oldest among American presidents. In February, Carter refused medical care to spend the rest of his days with his family, receiving only palliative care. In recent years, he has been treated for several diseases, including melanoma.
