The Verkhovna Rada adopted a law on the conditions for admission to the citizenship of Ukraine. The document was supported in the second reading by 281 people’s deputies.
People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak announced this in his Telegram.
To obtain citizenship of Ukraine, it is necessary to pass exams on the basics of the Constitution of Ukraine, the history of Ukraine and confirm the required level of proficiency in the state language.
“The law introduces obligations within two years from the date of admission to the citizenship of Ukraine to pass exams on the basics of the Constitution of Ukraine, the history of Ukraine and the level of proficiency in the state language and submit documents on passing such exams”- the message says.
Recall that in July 2022, the Cabinet of Ministers submitted to the Council a draft law on establishing additional conditions for admission to the citizenship of Ukraine.
As reported by , the Belarusian actor Yevgeny Smorygin, who has been living and working in Kyiv for many years, passed the state language exam in order to obtain Ukrainian citizenship.
