• Nia DaCosta, Director Miraclesacknowledges the presence of superhero fatigue, but believes the film can stand out for its goofy and silly tone and garish unseen worlds.
  • Miracles represents a unique team within the narrative, as opposed to the ensemble seen in the Avengers films, aiming to create kindred female characters from different backgrounds.
  • Miracles will bring three characters—Captain Marvel, Monica Rambo, and Ms. Marvel—into a single story, with the filmmakers carefully choosing which parts of their journeys to show. The film also features returning and new cast members.

Marvel and Disney Studios Miracles soon to be the final chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Film director, Nia DaCosta, now talked about how the film differs from other parts of the MCU - and how it can stand out among the “superhero fatigue” in modern cinema.

In a new interview with Total Film, DaCosta told the publication, “I think superhero fatigue is absolutely there.” However, she also described some of the ways in which Miracles can stand out from the rest of the MCU, which is often accused of being a derivative and following similar formulas in all its parts. According to DaCosta, the main contrast in Miracles this is the tone it strikes in comparison to other MCU films:

“The biggest difference from other MCU movies to date is that it’s really goofy and stupid. The worlds we enter in this film are different from others you’ve seen in the MCU. Vibrant worlds you haven’t seen before. “

This opinion was supported by the executive producer of the film, Maria Livanos, who described Miracles as having a different type of ensemble. ” Avengers Movies are epic conclusions to chapters of the narrative, while it is a consolidation within the narrative, which we did not necessarily expect from Marvel, ”said Livanos. “Usually you wait for the characters to appear all together in Avengers movie. We were excited to create a team with characters that can connect with women from all walks of life.”

DaCosta has previously talked about how Miracles was going to combine all three characters into a single story, stating that it was “something we’ve been thinking and working on a lot, which is, ‘How do we fit each of these really big, exciting characters into a two-hour space?’ movie? A lot of what we thought about is how much of the path do we need to see for each of them?” While few plot details, as with most Marvel features, have been released, it’s clear from DaCosta’s words that an attempt was made to ensure Miracles stands on its own.

Miracles also stars Samuel L. Jackson, reprising his role as Nick Fury from previous MCU films as well as Zave Ashton as a Kree warrior Dar-Benn and Park Seo Joon. Lashana Lynch also reprises her role as the late Maria Rambeau from Captain Marvel. The film was directed by DaCosta from a script she co-wrote with Elissa Karasik And Megan McDonnell.
