Throughout the 1980s, few filmmakers were in a streak similar to John Hughes. His name is associated with all the great comedies of that era, from Club Breakfast To Planes, trains and cars, uncle buckAnd Alone at home among many others. However, one particular day off that he came up with still sticks in everyone’s mind because of the many iconic lines and the sense of freedom it evokes. Now Paramount Home Entertainment is giving Ferris Bueller’s day off 4K processing with a new release that has all the content you need to fill a day off work or school.

Written and directed by Hughes. Ferris Bueller’s day off follows the now iconic Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick), a school bum who drops out of class with his best friend Cameron (Alan Ruck) and girlfriend Sloan (Mia Sara) for the best weekend ever captured on film. The trio take Cameron’s dad’s Ferrari on a fun ride around Chicago, leaving all responsibility behind as they gear up for an incredible day while staying out of the sight of those who might recognize them. Part of what made it an enduring classic was Ferris’s constant fourth crushing comments as he explained the techniques he perfected to get out of class and projected his thoughts onto the audience, letting viewers sink into an absolutely chaotic ride as it unfolded. The film is so beloved and important in the history of cinema that in 2014 it was officially inducted into the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress.
