10 Silk (Earth-616)
In the main universe, the same spider that gave Peter Parker his powers bit Cindy Moon. This gave her the same powers and abilities, but with even more agility and the ability to create organic webs from her fingertips. She first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 3) #1 in 2014, and since then its popularity has been steadily growing.
While many fans see her backstory as lazy, Reddit users like OkMeasurement420 feel that once “she became a hero with her own story,” her good qualities really started to shine.
9 Spider (Earth-15)
Peter Parker of Earth-15 was a mass murderer who merged with the Spider symbiote (one of the most powerful in the Marvel Universe), giving birth to a rage-filled and ruthless version of the character first introduced in Exiles #12 in 2002. The spider used his powers not to fight for good, but to hurt people.
Fans love the recently deleted Reddit account, “loved the concept” and think this version of the character deserves more attention. Like all symbiotes, Spider was vulnerable to heat and high frequency sounds. After numerous murders and crimes, Spider was killed by Firestar (Earth-3062) in a mega explosion.
8 Zombie Spider (Earth-2149)
In the Marvel Zombies universe, Peter Parker (who first appeared in Marvel Zombies/Army of Darkness #1 in 2007) was bitten by a zombified Colonel America who ate Mary Jane and Aunt May when he couldn’t resist the Hunger. Wracked with guilt, he became one of the most fascinating characters in the storyline.
In the end, as MegaSpidey3 sums it up, Spider-Zombie “becomes one of the good zombies,” a touching and gripping climax to one of the most complex and poignant arcs in modern Marvel history.
7 Space Spider-Man (Earth-13)
Space Spider-Man first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 3) #9 in 2014. He has a mysterious power: the literal power of light and life, greatly enhancing his abilities. He is known as one of the most powerful variations of Spider-Man in space, and his powers are far greater than any other.
He played a vital role in the Spider-Verse event when he gave shelter to all the Spider-Men who fought against the Inheritors. Being perhaps the most powerful version of Spider-Man, even fans like Iamhuman who call him “so cool” don’t live up to his greatness.
6 Scarlet Spider (Earth-616)
While several characters have used the Scarlet Spider identity, the one most loved by Reddit fans is the one who appeared in Spiderman #52 in 1994: Ben Reilly.
The Jackal, one of Spider-Man’s enemies, created a clone of Spidey with his own DNA, which fans now know as the Scarlet Spider. The clone copied Peter’s abilities and even his personality, eventually becoming a superhero as well and going up against the Jackal to start his own journey. With what Soft_Appropriate would call “really complex backstory and struggles”, Ben is considered one of the most amazing versions of Spidey.
5 Pavitr Prabhakar (Earth-50101)
Chased by thugs through the streets of Mumbai, Pavitr Prabhakar stumbled upon an ancient yogi who gave him the power of a spider to fight the evil that threatens the world. His strengths and weaknesses may be similar to the Spider-Man of Earth-616, but this hero (who first appeared in Spider-Man: India #1 in 2005) turned out to be quite unique. As Indian_Jones says, the concept of “just there” is at its best.
In Spider-Verse, he fought alongside Superior Spider-Man, Spider-Man UK and many others to defeat the Inheritors and later joined the Web-Warriors. If that’s not cool, then what is?
4 Superior Spider-Man (Earth-616)
Doc Ock is much more than just one of the MCU’s cutest villains. When Peter Parker dies, Octavius implants his mind into Peter’s body, choosing the life of a hero and dedicating himself to becoming a better hero than Peter under the name of the Superior Spider-Man (first appears in The Amazing Spiderman #697 in 2012).
He uses gadgets like spider robots to monitor the city and fight crime that the original Wall-Crawler couldn’t do. Due to Peter’s abilities and Otto’s high intelligence, the Superior Spider-Man was considered extremely powerful during his short tenure. The best part is that it was, as jdfree1987 put it, “a good fresh storyline”.
3 Spider Punk (Earth-138)
Hobart “Hobie” Brown was bitten by a radioactive spider due to illegal garbage dumping in The Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 3) #10 in 2014. He took on the mantle of Spider-Man in his universe to oppose the tyrannical President Norman Osborn.
Spider-Punk has many followers who helped him bring Norman to justice. He has as many fans as demoking3246 who “love his design” and agree that he is one of the coolest Spider-Man options out there. Hobie also joined the Spider-Verse army to defeat the Inheritors, which only proves how quickly he became popular with the fans.
2 Spider-Man 2099 (Earth-928)
In 2099, Miguel O’Hara took on the mantle of Spider-Man by mixing his DNA with that of a spider. Spider-Man 2099 has some epic gadgets and abilities that make him completely unique. He is definitely not a force to be reckoned with, which has been proven time and time again since his first appearance in The Amazing Spiderman #365 in 1992.
He fought in the Spider-Verse comics along with many other heroes. With what Theta-Sigma45 summarizes as “[the] the most interesting personality, great stories and killer costume”, many call him their favorite version of Spider-Man, and he is also one of the most powerful Marvel characters.
1 Ultimate Spider-Man (Earth-1610)
First appearance in Ultimate Spider-Man #1 in 2000, the Earth-1610 version of Peter Parker calls the Ultimate Marvel universe home, which is why he is known as Ultimate Spider-Man. This release of the character was intended as a way to modernize him for a new audience, and that goal was definitely met.
Fans like some Redditors call this version of the hero “the greatest incarnation of the character” and it’s not hard to see why. With a great sense of humor, a more interesting personality than ever before, and a real sense of being a real teenager learning from his life as a superhero, this is the version of the character that many people would call the definitive. which arguably earned him the title of best alternative Spider-Man.
