Indiana Jones and the Dial of Doom will mark the return Harrison Ford to one of the most iconic roles of his career, setting the stage for a new adventure to uncover a new conspiracy that could threaten the country’s security. The actor is known for not being particularly interested in the details of the storytelling of the big-budget projects he works on, preferring a more professional and detached approach. During a recent interview with Esq.Ford spoke about the reasons why he decided to take up the whip and hat for the fifth time, almost fifteen years after he did it for the last time:

I wanted to know what happened to him and how he dealt with it. [Director James] Mangold and I worked closely together, especially in this scene. Waking up in my underwear with an empty glass in my hand was my idea. I wanted to see Indiana Jones at a critical point and rebuild him from scratch.

Ford knew he still had plenty of gas in the tank to put on another memorable performance by the world’s most extraordinary archaeologist under the guidance of a seasoned director like James Mangold having joined the project, it is easy to understand why the actor was so eager to return. However, this will mark the end of Ford’s journey as Indiana Jones, meaning the performer will be able to say goodbye to the character on their own terms. This time, Indy will need all the help he can get before it’s too late and his old enemies manage to gain new power.
