Editor’s Note: The following article contains spoilers for Citadel Season 1.

Season 1 Russo Brothers’ Citadel did a marvelous job answering some of the series’ most pressing questions. When the credits roll for the final season, we’ll find out who the mole that betrayed the Citadel is, what exactly Mason Kane had (Richard Madden) and Nadi Singh (Priyanka Chopra Jonas) relationships, and how far Manticore can go in an attempt to dominate the world. This does not mean Citadel leaves no loose threads that will tie into either season 2 or the many international spin-offs coming to Prime Video in the next couple of years. So now that the whole season Citadel available on Prime Video, it’s time to discuss the biggest unanswered question the show has left.

What happened to Nadia’s father?

Paul Baseley as Rahi Gambheer in Season 1 Episode 5 of The Citadel.

While Mason and Nadia travel the world to save Carter Spence (Axis Ikhile), one of the few Citadel agents to survive the Manticore attack, Dahlia Archer (Lesley Manville) kidnaps the daughter of spies in order to use the girl as a bargaining chip. The kidnapping highlights how powerful Dahlia is, as Nadia made sure not even the Citadel knew about her daughter. However, since the kidnapping takes place off-screen, we never know what happened to Nadia’s father, Rahi (Paul Baseley), which guarded the girl. We know that Nadia’s father is a dangerous international terrorist, so we can imagine that he will not give the girl away without a fight. But does this mean that Dahlia executed Nadia’s father? season 2 Citadel It would be nice to explain what happened to Nadia’s father.

Did the Citadel kill Mason’s father?

In the final episode Citadel In the first season, we learn that Dahlia is Mason’s mother. The ending of the first season also explains why Dahlia left the Citadel, focusing her spy skills on the construction of the Manticore. According to Dahlia, Mason’s father was killed in an explosion attributed to terrorists, when the explosions were actually caused by a botched Citadel airstrike. While Citadel is a good hero in this story, everyone knows the spy game is dangerous, so it won’t be a surprise if an accident does happen. However, since the Russo Brothers have asked fans to question everything they see on screen, it’s only fair to ask if Dahlia was telling the truth. Maybe she was lying to convince Mason to give her the confidential documents that led to the collapse of the Citadel. Or perhaps someone lied to Dahlia to get her to blame the Citadel for her husband’s death. It would be nice if the second season of The Citadel gave us a definitive answer.

What will Dahlia do next?

As far as we know, Dahlia was behind the rise of Manticore and the murder of almost every agent of the Citadel. However, when she failed to obtain the nuclear warheads Manticore needed to ensure their world domination, Dahlia became a target. So she blew up her house, faked her own death, and disappeared into the night. Now we’re wondering what’s next for the villain. Maybe Dahlia will go after Mason and Nadia to get revenge and buy her way back to Manticore. Or perhaps she will become an independent agent interfering with Manticore’s plan. There’s plenty of room for Dahlia to reinvent herself as another villain or unexpected ally. So season 2 Citadel must explain what happened to Dahlia after her defeat.

Why is Manticore keeping Bernard alive? And where is he?

Season 1 of The Citadel reveals that Dahlia is a ruthless killer who doesn’t hesitate to drop bodies to make ends meet. That is why it is somewhat surprising that she decided to leave Bernard Orlik (Stanley Tucci) alive after receiving from him the information she needs. After finishing torturing Bernard, Dahlia even orders the execution of his family, which means she doesn’t need any leverage with the Citadel’s former spy. So why leave him alive? This unanswered question leads to another as we desperately need to know where Manticore is holding Bernard. Dahlia mentions a base in Brazil, so it’s fair to assume that Bernard is in the care of one of the families funding Manticore. The eight families of Manticore, for those who need a reminder, come from the United States, Brazil, Mexico, China, South Korea, Italy, Germany, and France. That’s why Prime Video is already developing international spin-offs in Italy, Mexico and India. So, with Bernard in Brazil, does that mean we’ll also get a Brazilian series in the future? This is what we would like to see!

Will Celeste get her memories back?

While Manticore raises the stakes for the safety of the world, Citadel exposes its main characters to their fair share of personal drama. For example, in the season finale, Mason recognizes his wife Abby (Ashley Cummings), is actually Celeste, a rookie spy whose mind he wiped to protect Nadia. So now Mason has to live with the knowledge that he ruined Celeste’s life. In doing so, he built a lifetime with Abby. Mason will have to deal with the duplicate memories he now has, but what about Abby/Celeste? If she ever learns the truth, Mason risks losing his wife, child, and possibly her life if she ever learns the truth. Celeste has every reason to hate Mason, even if Abby loves him. Of course, we love drama, so we’d love to see Celeste get her memories back. Final episode Citadel The first season even sets a precedent for this, as Mason discovered that his memories are safe on a secret backup server. Then why not give Celeste the same opportunity?

Will Mason and Nadia rebuild the Citadel?

At the end Citadel In the first season, all the main characters, not killed or imprisoned by Manticore, gather in the abandoned headquarters of the Citadel in the USA. In the first season, Mason and Nadia contacted Manticore in an attempt to find out who they are and in an attempt to save the people they love. However, Manticore will remain a threat despite Manson and Nadia choosing to hide. The question arises, will they rebuild the Citadel and fight back? It would be the perfect template for multiple seasons, as the Citadel’s rebuild could bring the characters from multiple spin-offs together to achieve the same goal. And with eight families funding Manticore, there’s plenty of scope for the main series and spin-offs to haunt these influencers one season at a time. Finally, setting an overarching goal for Citadel The Universe would help keep fans interested as the romance between Nadia and Mason isn’t enough to keep the show going long term.
