How Mermaid hits in cinemas around the world, Entertainment Weekly told how Jody Benson, the voice of Ariel in the original 1989 cartoon classic, was integrated into the live-action adaptation. When ArielHolly Bailey) is finally able to leave the ocean to explore the human world, she goes to the nearby market where many people offer her goods they have to sell. One of these people, it turns out, is played by Benson herself, who offers the girl a plate of fruit. Since she has spent her entire life at sea, Ariel doesn’t know how to use a fork and tries to style her hair with it. Here’s what Benson had to say about joining the film:
“For me, it was just a huge thrill when Robbie reached out. I’m like, “Of course I’ll come! I don’t care what I do. I just can’t wait to be on set.” and watch you all work. For me, it was just a joy.”
In game adaptation Mermaid, Ariel is tired of living in water because of her love for the human world. She collects any artifact lost at sea and places it in the cave along with the rest of her belongings. Clocks, forks and even a statue were hidden by a mermaid in a distant cave. Ariel must keep her collection a secret due to her father, King Triton (Javier Bardem), shows zero tolerance for the human world after a man attacked and killed a mermaid’s mother. This conflict marks one of the emotional centers of the story as Triton attempts to support his daughter’s dreams by keeping her out of danger.
On top of that, Ariel is under constant surveillance by her father’s trusted advisor, Sebastian (David Diggs). The friendly crab always follows her, making sure she doesn’t get into trouble. Unfortunately for him, Ariel always knows how to sneak away. And he’s not the only friend of the mermaid during her adventures with Scuttlebutt (Aquafina) and flounder (Jacob Tremblay) Always near. The group knows how to have a good time, filling Ariel’s days with music and fun. Even if the main character of the story does not feel comfortable in her own home, she knows that she can rely on sea creatures who love her.
The sea witch hides in the shadows
While everything should be fun and play for Ariel and her friends, the ocean is full of secrets and there is someone who has a special desire to take Triton’s throne. Melissa McCarthy plays Ursula in the game adaptation, a sea witch who will do anything to ruin her brother’s life by taking his crown from him. The villainess quickly realizes that the best way to get to Triton’s heart is to threaten Ariel, and she has the perfect plan to do so. After a girl falls in love with Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer-King), Ursula realizes that she will be easily manipulated by the mermaid.
