In an exclusive interview with Collider Stephen Weintraub For Spider-Man: Into the Spider-VerseLord and Miller talked about the highly anticipated series about the fan-favorite character from the 2018 film. In spider verse tells the origin story of Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore), a teenager who must learn how to be Spider-Man after his timeline’s Peter Parker is killed. Thankfully, Miles is not alone, as the shenanigans of the multiverse bring multiple versions of the Webslinger into his dimension. One such option is Spider-Noir, a detective noir version of a hero who literally sees the world in shades of gray.

It’s easy to see why Spider Noir has become a fan favorite. Nicolas Cage I put my soul into the hero. However, while we all wanted to see the return of Spider-Noir, no one expected Sony to announce a live-action series, especially with In spider verse the animation is so innovative. So, since Sony is keeping quiet about this mysterious project, we asked Lord and Miller if the Spider-Noir series is still going on. The Lord quickly answered, “Yes.” On the other hand, Miller explained that the project is currently on hold. According to Miller, “it was [in development] until the writers’ strike and everything shut down. But once this is resolved, we’ll get back to it. But everything is going well.” Unfortunately, Hollywood writers have been on strike since the beginning of May, fighting for fair wages while major studios refuse to negotiate. However, the Spider-Noir project appears to be safe as Lorde and Miller are happy to return to it once the writers get what they deserve.

Although Spider-Noir would return for adventures in 1930s New York, until Cage was contacted to be part of the project. We would love to see Cage take on a live-action version of the character, so we asked if there was any chance the star would return. The creative duo played modestly, and the Lord said: “There are any chance.” That’s enough to fuel our hopes, so we have to keep our fingers crossed.

Before focusing all their energy on Spider Noir, Lorde and Miller are currently working on Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse And Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Versethe final two chapters of their epic animated trilogy. Through the universes of spiders will continue to explore the path of the hero Miles while fighting the new villain Spot (voiced by Jason Schwartzman), join forces with the multiverse team of Spider-Men led by Oscar IsaacMiguel O’Hara, aka Spider-Man 2099, and even start a civil war between the heroes.
