Since around the time The Dark Knight destroying box office records and the heyday of the MCU (both occurred in the summer of 2008), superhero films have been the hottest genre in the multiplex. Given recent advances such as Spiderman: No Way Home And Batmanthere is no indication that this will change anytime soon.
However, there have certainly been many failures in this genre. As well asAvengers: Endgameand 2017 amazing woman brought superhero films to a new level of complexity and thrill, many superhero films failed. According to Rotten Tomatoes, these are the absolute worst, all even worse (according to critics approved by Tomatometer) than the recently maligned Morbius (currently a terrifying 16% on the critics’ tomatometer).
12 “Batman and Robin” (1997)
Rotten Tomatoes score: 12%
Bad superhero movies are practically synonymous Joel Schumachera shiny, usually fatal turkey that knocked over Batman franchise for eight full years. There are films worse than Batman and Robin in this list, and perhaps none of them is more revised and cited. It represents “so bad it’s good”.
Uma Thurman, it should be noted, emerges from the film completely unscathed. As Poison Ivy, she is fully aware of what movie she is in and puts on an amazing camp. Otherwise, this movie was undeniably a miscalculation on almost every level.
eleven ‘Jonah Hex’ (2010)
Rotten Tomatoes score: 12%
Josh Brolin later worked wonders as Thanos and he even stood out among the disappointing people. Deadpool 2, but even an actor of his caliber (or Michael Fassbender or John Malkovich) can’t save Class D trash, which puts the DC source to shame and looks like a movie from the 90s. Bad movie from the 90s. Significant Wild Wild West energy.
Jonah Hex won two Razzies for Worst Screen Couple and Worst Actress (Megan Fox). Brolin was the only element that was praised by some critics, and it is clear that his career took off after that.
10 The Raven: City of Angels (1996)
Rotten Tomatoes score: 11%
Steeped in tragedy originalCrowthe film became a financial hit. director Tim Pope was determined to make a film that would stand on its own and not paraphrase. This led to a massacre by Harvey Weinstein, who ordered the film to be hacked in half. Pope intended to make a dark, supernatural picture of grief. The studio spent a lot of money on reshoots, trying to play it safe. Released as an 84-minute revenge film. City of Angelsfilled.
Original 160 minute version Crow: City of Angels very good can be great. Unfortunately, the audience did not see it. There are many online petitions to release a version of the Pope and one day it could become a reality.
9 Elektra (2005)
Rotten Tomatoes score: 11%
2003 daredevil was bad. Two years later the critics said Elektra it was even worse. It’s not the fault Jennifer Garnerwho has the chops to make this work and then some. Unfortunately, small scale daredevil the spin-off is so inconsequential that it all evaporates while you’re watching it.
amazing woman this is wrong. Elektra little excitement and almost entirely devoid of humour. The result is a film with virtually no replay value. For a superhero movie, good or bad, that’s a shame.
8 Superman IV: In Search of Peace (1987)
Rotten Tomatoes score: 10%
Richard Donner, 1978 Superman and its immediate sequel, the OG superhero classic, groundbreaking blockbusters whose influence on the genre and industry is ongoing. The third entry was campy and very bad. The fourth film backed by Cannon is often cited as one of the worst films ever made.
Shortly before filming, Cannon cut the film’s budget by more than half. After failed test screenings, 40 minutes of the film were cut. Even if there was hope for a good post-jump story (and many of the deleted scenes on Blu-Ray releases suggest there may have been), there was never a chance it would work. On the bright side Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor seems to be fully aware and blissfully accepting the fact that he’s in a terrible movie. For what it’s worth In search of peace unintentionally fun. And that’s all it’s worth.
7 “Fantastic Four” (2015)
Rotten Tomatoes score: 9%
What can be said about Fant4stic what hasn’t been said yet? Fatal clash between director and studio backstage Josh Tranksupposedly horrendous behavior on set and in his living quarters - all of which resulted in the final product feeling unfinished. It’s actually a bit of a shock when it hit theaters (where, unsurprisingly, it flopped).
Unusually massive reshoots are easily displayed to viewers with Kate Marathe famous blonde wig. Made cynically for legal reasons (reservation of rights), this film can hardly be called a feature film. Thank god the first Marvel family is about to arrive in the MCU.
6 ‘Supergirl’ (1984)
Rotten Tomatoes score: 9%
Super Girl this is the worst thing that happens when men write to women. Decades before the character found redemption on television, Supergirl appeared in a stunningly horrifying film that is essentially about women fighting over a hot guy. It’s a kind of lower-stakes insult that recurs 20 years later in Catwoman.
Seven years after receiving an Oscar for Net, Faye Dunaway looks lost in this big budget flop. There are some pleasures of Z-Class campy guile here, but the seemingly endless length (which varies depending on which version you watch) makes it difficult for all but the most dedicated thrash enthusiasts.
5 ‘Catwoman’ (2004)
Rotten Tomatoes score: 9%
Basketball scene. Evil skin cream. CGI effects that look like someone is pouring jam from a spoon onto the walls. Warner Bros.’ a terribly horrendous superhero disaster film was released three short weeks after Sam RaimiX Spiderman 2perhaps still the high point of the genre.
Halle Berry won Razzie Award for Worst Actress for Favorite Razzie Catwoman. Good sport, the actress famously accepted the award in person, with her Oscar in hand. It was a brilliant and sweet PR stunt, a reminder to the fans who they were dealing with.
4 ‘Robocop 3’ (1993)
Rotten Tomatoes score: 6%
Difficult to resell Paul Verhoevenoriginal 1987 masterpiece Robocop. It’s the perfect movie that works on many levels: as a mind-blowing, humanistic sci-fi, gritty and gripping action movie - and, perhaps most of all, poignant satire.
After the mean but underrated Robocop 2the franchise crashed to the ground with stupid, featherweight and (sin of sins) PG-13 Robocop 3the one without Peter Weller and with a flying RoboCop. It’s just as bad as the original was good.
3 “Son of the Mask” (2005)
Rotten Tomatoes score: 6%
Let it be known throughout the earth: never do Jim carrey movie without Jim Carrey. More than ten years laterMask was a giant hit with critics and the public (it was nominated for an Oscar and grossed over $350 million), this cash grab stunned critics in all the wrong ways and didn’t even break the $60 million mark worldwide.
Jamie Kennedy was adorable as hell, like Randy’s fan favorite scream, but it’s unfair to expect any artist to match Carrey in any context, much less a follow-up to one of his breakout hits. The star doesn’t benefit from a script that turns his character into a bumbling jerk (Kerry’s Stanley was a well-meaning and lovable loser). Mask has horrible, lazy makeup effects. It’s a thorn in VFX’s eye, and despite the PG rating, it makes one feel unclean. There is Musk’s cum in this movie. Shudder.
2 ‘Increase’ (2006)
Rotten Tomatoes score: 4%
Phew. It is important to remember how well Tim Allen may be in the right project. His performance ingalaxy quest absolutely masterful, funny and touching. He has no chance to show off his formidable, often underrated skills in this infamous X-Men plagiarism along with the same wasted Courteney Cox.
Increaseis sloppy and hideous to look at, with many Uncanny Valley computer-generated moments that can make viewers say, “The power of Christ is compelling you!” Or something like that. It’s bad to seeKate Mara, a beautiful and versatile actress, has starred in two terribly terrible films on this list.
1 “Max Steel” (2016)
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 0%
As flawed or poorly constructed as a superhero movie is, it can’t be as bad as a superhero movie that has no idea what it wants to be. Or how to understand. Frankly speaking, inadequacy Max Steeldoes Batman and Robin looks like There will be blood.
If there is one element Max Steel it’s not cruel, it’s Maria Bello in a supporting role. However, even an actress of her caliber cannot save this nightmare. If you like movies Catwoman And Batman and Robin so bad that they are good Max Steel it’s a confusing experience that borders on depression.
