Spotlight Pictures released the first trailer Poor thingsnext movie from Yorgos Lanthimos about a young woman who doesn’t know why she didn’t die when she should have, and her second chance might be enough to change the world. This film will mark a reunion between the director and the actress, given how they both worked together during the film’s production. DarlingHistorical black comedy about a queen.
Based on the 1992 novel of the same name. Alasdair Gray, Poor things will follow Bella Baxter’s (Stone) journey to find out how and why she was resurrected, given that she was absolutely certain she was dead. However, she will not follow the orders of the unorthodox scientist who brought her back to life (played by Willem Dafoe), as she wants to experience as many experiences as possible, away from male experiments. In the process, she meets Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), and the couple decide to run away together. This ultimately led Bella to a commitment to equality, which gave her the opportunity to make a difference for women’s rights in her time.
It will also be Lanthimos’ first film since the release of ” Darling, back in 2018. In that movie, Queen AnneOlivia Colman) finds herself in a state of illness, and her adviser and mistress, Lady Sarah Churchill (Rachel Weisz) leads the country through his influence on the monarch. However, everything suddenly changes when young Abigail Hill (Stone) is hired as a maid at the palace. When the Queen becomes attracted to a girl, Churchill and Hill fight for the Queen’s love, including the chance to rule England for whoever wins the battle.

After she gets to the bottom of the mystery behind her return to life and her chance to make the world a better place in Poor things, academic award-the winning actress will appear in Lanthimos’ next film, AND, marking the third collaboration between the two. In the upcoming anthology, the director will tell various short stories featuring performances from Jesse Plemons, Margaret Qualley, And Joe Alvin.
