Great news for fans of the hit CW series. Walker. The network officially extended the reboot Walker Texas Ranger during its fourth season, following its impressive ratings and status as the most watched linear series among all viewers during its third season. With Nextar, the chain’s new owners looking to increase profits, the decision to renew was probably an easy one. Season 4 will feature 13 episodes, the fewest episodes for a series to date, despite this, fans can expect more from the action-packed and thrilling spectacle that made the series so successful.

Walker which premiered online in January 2021, follows the story of Cordell Walker (Jared Padalecki), a widowed father and Texas Ranger who returns to Austin after two years of undercover work to reunite with his family, only to find there is just as much work to do at home. Despite a lukewarm critical reception, Walker proved to be a ratings hit for The CW from its first season, breaking and setting records set by shows such as Flash.

Walker this is the first scripted CW series to receive a revamp under new management

The reduced number of episodes in the upcoming season 4 is part of Nextar’s cost-cutting strategy. The new owners of the CW announced their intention to focus on cheaper scripted programming to increase profits. This new strategy will result in The CW doing fewer scripted shows with a focus on those that target a broader demographic and not just young people who Walker fits into.

The crime drama series is the first of those scripted series to be chosen under Nextar as the network gears up for the next 2023/2024 television season. CW updated in January All American for the sixth season, but it was part of a deal to acquire it by Nextar. The fate of other CW shows, including Superman and Lois And All American: Homecoming hangs in the balance as Nexter looks towards an unscripted lane taking on the FBoy Island reality show and ordering the FGirl Island spin-off.

In addition to Padalecki as Cordell Walker, Walker has a talented ensemble cast including Lindsey Morgan, Keegan Allen, Mitch PileggiAnd Coby Bell, among others. Show written and executive produced Anna Frickewith other executive producers including Dan Lin, Lindsey Liberatore, Steve RobinAnd Russell Friend.
