For those who are not so well versed in video games star Wars Universe, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the long-awaited sequel to the popular action-adventure game from Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The game continues the many adventures of Cal Kestis (Cameron Monaghan) is a Jedi Knight who survived Order 66. There, Cal is reunited with his longtime friend and former pilot, Grizz Dritus (Daniel Roebuck), but also faces an entirely new threat to the galaxy. This nefarious new faction is the Bedlam Raiders, who have reprogrammed a legion of Clone Wars-era battle droids and are led by a particularly vicious gen’dai warlord named Ravis (DC Douglas). Eventually, Cal stumbles upon an abandoned High Republic-era medical facility. The Jedi Outcast is shocked to discover that a one-armed humanoid remains in the bacta tank. When Cal touches the tank, he sees a vision of the man’s past life over a hundred years ago. He learns that the name of the mysterious man is Dagan Gera (Cody Fern) is a once noble night of the High Republic that discovered a mysterious planet outside the Kobo system. Cal hopes that the man he saved will help stop the Bedlam Raiders and find a safe haven from the Empire.

Unfortunately for Cal, he didn’t get the full details of what kind of person Dagan is in this vision, as it wasn’t actually a medical facility. It was a prison. Cal learns of this when he gives Dagan his lightsaber, and when Dagan starts fiddling with his blade’s kyber crystal, the color of the power source changes from a noble yellow to an ominous red. Anyone who knows star Wars knows that the franchise’s villains almost exclusively use a red lightsaber, so this clearly indicates that Dagan has fallen to the dark side. Cal and Dagan engage in a fierce duel, and Dagan holds his own against Cal with literally one hand before Ravis comes to rescue his master.

The 9th Jedi in Star Wars: Visions also contains color-changing kyber crystals

One of the best episodes in Star Wars: Visions Volume 1 is undoubtedly The 9th Jedi, created by the animation studio Production IG and directed by Kenji Kamiyama. The storyline, as mentioned earlier, is not canon, and it’s not explicitly stated where the action should take place in the short. star Wars timing, if at all. However, the story takes place at a time when the Jedi Order is no more and its former members are either long dead or scattered across the galaxy.

This continued until a mysterious man named Margrave Juro (Andrey Kishino), claims to be mining cybercrystals and restoring treasured lightsabers. This rumor attracts a small group of Jedi who arrive at Margrave Juro’s base to see if he can indeed return their lightsabers to them. He can, but the way kyber crystals work in this short is slightly different from how they work in the main line. star Wars Universe. In The 9th Jedi, Cyber Crystals effectively act as mood stones, changing color based on the alignment of their wearer. This provides a more practical reason for why the colors in the franchise are what they are, with the simple base colors of blue and green representing good and red representing evil. We also see that if a person’s worldview is not defined, the saber blade is transparent.

When a group of so-called Jedi get their hands on their new lightsabers, we get perhaps the best twist in history. star Wars With The Empire Strikes Back. Nearly all of their blades glow a bright blood red, showing that they have been secretly Sith Lords all along. The band of villains hoped that Margrave Juro’s message would attract the few remaining Jedi in the galaxy so they could end them once and for all. Unbeknownst to them, Margrave Juro is also revealed to be a Jedi and is dealing with problematic Dark Side users.

Can other storylines from Star Wars: Visions be included in Canon?

Some shorts in Star Wars: Visions it’s just impossible to adapt. This is pretty much the case for the Twins episode, which doesn’t even try to stick to canon by depicting an epic anime battle that uses star Wars as a background than anything else. This is not bad at all, because it allows the creators to do whatever they want with the material. However, there are other storylines that seem to fit almost perfectly into the wider canon, especially darker samurai-inspired stories like “Duel” and “The Elder”.

Ultimately, we don’t know for sure if Respawn Entertainment was inspired by The Ninth Jedi or just had a similar concept in mind for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. However, if they were, this already makes the case for Star Wars: Visions as a new inspiration for star Wars Franchise in the future.

Star Wars: Visions Volume 2 is now available to stream on Disney+.
