[Editor’s Note: This article contains spoilers for the series finale of Star Trek: Picard.]While the last season Star Trek: Picard showed the return of a few friendly faces and a few not-so-friendly faces, there was one person who was noticeably absent from the highly anticipated New Generation reunion. The third season of Picard centers around the revelation that Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stuart) and Dr. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden) has a son, Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers), and his role in a mystery that goes back to Picard’s most legendary enemies, the Borg.
The final episode features a guest from John de LancieQ in a post-credits scene that informs fans that Jack Crusher’s Starfleet adventures are only just beginning. With this latest special cameo from a creature that can easily travel through space and time, viewers couldn’t help but wonder if Wesley Crusher ever met his brother? Actor Wil Wheatonwho played Wesley in Next generation and now posting Star Trek aftershow finished roomtook to Facebook to weigh in and give his explanation for why we never saw Wesley come back to visit his mother.
In response to a Gizmodo article about Picard’s unanswered questions, Wheaton shared “as close to an official answer” as far as we can see why Wesley can’t drop in on a family reunion. Wesley became “Traveler” in his last episode Next generation, giving up his human existence to do so. He explained that although officially it is not part of Star Trek canon, he used this explanation when he wrote Wesley’s History for the 400th Star Trek comics.
Wesley Crusher had to sacrifice his human life to become a traveler
According to Wheaton, “One of the fundamental rules of being in Travelers is that once you have joined, you should NEVER directly interact with people, places, planets, etc. that were part of your previous life, because that it can affect your judgment and break reality.” He went on to say that while “Wesley would love nothing more than to visit his mom and meet his brother,” he knows that “not seeing them is a sacrifice he has to make in the name of something much bigger.” than anything else in his life.” reality”. Wheaton’s appearance Picard The Season 2 finale fits that bill, as it only appeared to invite Travelers to Kore Sung (Isa Briones).
