Florence Pugh looking for help on youtube tutorial in the first clip Zach BraffX Good manshared via Mailboxd. In theaters this Friday, the film follows Allison (played by Pugh), a pharmaceutical rep who is about to get married. After being briefly distracted from her phone, causing her to accidentally crash her car and kill her sister-in-law and her boyfriend, the girl goes into a severe depressive episode. Her story will be connected with Daniel (Morgan Freeman), the father of a girl who died in an accident. Pugh’s character will embark on a journey that explores her state of mind and how she can change her appearance.

The clip begins in a dimly lit bathroom, with the only sound available coming from the phone’s speaker. Allison watches an online tutorial teaching her how to cut her own hair. She finds that this is not such an easy task, as she cuts what she can unevenly, leaving her with an awkward look. The character is prominently seen in a difficult emotional situation, and the contrast between her feelings and the live video on screen sets the scene’s tone. Since the movie starts in two days, you won’t have to wait long to learn more about the context of Allison’s life.

The upcoming drama will be very different from the rest of Braff’s filmography considering he is known for his roles in family stories such as Wholesale is cheaper. In the Disney+ reboot series about two extended families becoming one, the actor plays Paul Baker, a restaurant owner who is also the patriarch of the newly formed Baker family. The show includes the light-hearted plot and humor you might expect from a Disney Channel production, so watching Braff stage a mature story about addiction and heartbreak is definitely a big change.

Braff praises Pugh’s performance

While the film was still in production, the director spoke to Collider about how impressed he was with Thunderbolts star. He mentioned the good chemistry she had with her co-star Morgan Freeman, stating, “Playing Florence Pugh in the movie, I know it’s biased, but it’s the most wonderful thing you’ve ever seen.” I’m not exaggerating. … It’s a dramedy. She goes head to head with Morgan Freeman. You haven’t seen Morgan like this in years.
