2023 could be the year of video game adaptations as Last of us is still the talk of the town, but that will soon change with the release Movie Super Mario Bros.. As the Universal and Illumination animated film based on Nintendo’s popular franchise of the same name rapidly approaches its April debut, the marketing campaign has earned an invincible star and is rapidly drawing to a close. Now with only two weeks left, Universal has released a new promo focused on Princess Peach that will melt the hearts of Nintendo fans.

In a short teaser, Peach plays Anya Taylor-Joy (Last Night in Soho) by touching the franchise’s iconic fire flower to gain its scalding abilities. Peach is ready for battle and throws a fireball straight at the camera. The transformation is stunning to say the least, as we see the character’s iconic pink dress transform into a white and pink framed variant, just like they did in 2013. Super Mario World 3D. This was far from the first game to be played as Peach, but it was the first time she was able to use the fire flower ability. In this game, she also had the ability to hover using her dress, but it remains to be seen if she will have the same agility in the movie.

Peach’s cinematic debut

While Super Mario Bros.. already appeared on the big screen in a 1993 action film, this will be the first time the famous princess has appeared in a feature film. For most of her nearly 40-year history, Peach was seen as a damsel in distress that Mario had to save.
