Finally, release Five Nights at Freddy’s movie (in theaters and Peacock October 27) is on its way! Some fans are preparing to be horrified by killer animatronics and are looking forward to seeing one of their favorite franchises on the big screen. In addition, there are many people unfamiliar with the series who are also interested in it, especially since movie stars Josh Hutcherson from The Hunger Games fame and comes out just in time for Halloween. With this major milestone for the series in mind, wouldn’t it be best to take a look at the franchise’s timeline?

Since 2014, nine (official) games and 23 books have been released. Five Nights at Freddy’s has a timeline that is anything but simple. For some, playing the games and reading the books in the order they were released may be enough; this is understandable because it is the path that gives you the most opportunity for theorizing and speculation. Others may want to play and read in chronological order to see how the story unfolds from beginning to end. No matter what order you want, you’re in luck! Both will be covered here.

Five nights with Freddy’s games and books in chronological order

So, you did it all in release order… or you skipped this step to do everything in chronological order. Here’s everyone Five Nights at Freddy’s game and book (for now!) in chronological order; Beware of spoilers.

Happening in 1983 Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 depicts the earliest point on the timeline at that moment. This game takes the player through several mini-games that tell the story of a young boy who experiences a series of traumatic events at Fredbear’s family diner, leading to a party where he is teased by bullies and his older brother. This game features the “Bite of ’83”, where a boy is lifted up to Freddy’s head and crushed under the animatronic’s mouth. The boy is believed to have died as a result of the incident.

Two mini-games contain Easter eggs regarding the Purple Guy; it can also be seen in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 And Five Nights at Freddy’s 3.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 Fast forward a few years to 1987. Players take on the role of Jeremy Fitzgerald, a security guard at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. The place is currently under investigation due to a series of child murders committed by the Purple Guy, although the police are mostly working on rumors at this point. This is the first appearance of the mysterious purple figure in the franchise, and he returns throughout the series as more of the animatronics’ history is revealed. This game also features the first appearances of Balloon Boy and The Puppet, whose identities are revealed in Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator.

Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location The action takes place at Circus Baby’s Entertainment and Rental, which uses animatronics supplied by Afton Robotics and is controlled by Freddy Fazbear creator William Afton. This game features the Scooping Room, where animatronic endoskeletons are ripped out and dismantled for parts. This game also has multiple endings, one of which reveals the identity of Purple Guy.

We’ve reached the first game! As Mike Schmidt, players will continue to learn about the restaurant’s disturbing past, including the child murders mentioned in the second game. In this game, it is mentioned that a suspect in the murders was arrested, but the bodies were never found. When the animatronics begin to smell horribly and leak a blood-like fluid, it sparks rumors that lead to a police investigation. Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. This event also corresponds to what Phone Guy says will happen if the guard is caught by the animatronic: he will be put in the suit and killed.

Five Nights at Freddy’s the story takes place sometime in the early ’90s, after the Bite of ’87, and both Sister Location And Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 they contain “Puppet”, which places the novel trilogy after these titles. It includes Silver eyes, DistortedAnd Fourth wardrobe, set between 1995 and 1996. The novels feature Charlotte Emily, the daughter of William Afton’s former business partner Henry Emily. They involve Charlotte trying to uncover the mysteries of her father’s death and the incident at Fazbear’s Pizza, but it is revealed that she was killed by William Afton and her soul was possessed by an animatronic.

While the novels don’t quite live up to the games, this is the best place to read this trilogy to fill in some of the gaps in Henry Emily and the Puppet.

This game takes place approximately 30 years after Five Nights at Freddy’s The action takes place in a completely new location: Fazbear’s Fright, a horror attraction based on the Fazbear’s Pizza characters. Unlike previous games, the player must fight off only one animatronic - a rabbit named Springtrap. However, hallucinations of other corrupted animatronics will haunt the player and cause equipment malfunctions. One of the mini-games in this entry reveals William Afton to be in possession of Springtrap, and the game has both a good and bad ending that reveals the fate of the murdered children who possess the other animatronics.

This game is about Michael Afton (son of William Afton), who works as a manager at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. Under the guidance of Cassette Man, Michael must rescue broken animatronics in a back alley, including Springtrap and Circus Baby. The ending reveals that Cassette Man is actually Emily’s Henry, and that the animatronics’ rescue was a trap so he could burn down the restaurants, killing himself and freeing all the spirits in the process.

There are 12 novels in this series(Fazbear got scared 1-12), each containing three stories and an epilogue. Although many of the stories do not have a clear time frame, they contain characters featured in the aforementioned games and books (such as “Springtrap”) and are named after Five Nights at Freddy’s 3setting. Reading this series after Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator it’s a good way to end what is colloquially referred to as the “Clickteam series”, a term sometimes used to refer to the first six games as they were created using Clickteam Fusion 2.5. These novels are also set before the more modern games. They should be read before the release date so that the epilogues are in order as they share the overall story.

Help Wanted recreates a number of scenes from the first three games under the guise of “cleaning up the bad press that Fazbear Entertainment has had over the past few decades”, so it most likely took place after the murderous events Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator. Special Delivery made in the same style as Help Wanted and serves the same reputation-correcting plot, which is why the two games should be combined and played simultaneously.

The last part of the series, Security breachinstalled after Help Wanted And Special Delivery, as evidenced by the fact that the restaurant has grown into a megaplex and seems to have surpassed its former glory. It is the first free-roam game in the series to feature six endings. In the canon ending, William Afton returns wearing a charred Springtrap costume in an underground location suspiciously similar to those seen in previous games. After all, we still haven’t seen Afton’s demise, so there’s a chance he’ll return!

Tales from a pizzeria row (Tales from the Pizzeria 1-8) are similar in structure Fazbear got scared. Each novel contains three stories and an epilogue, and although they do not contain a specific time frame, they all take place in the megaplex from Security breach, which will install them during and after this game. They should be read before the release date so that the epilogues are in order as they share a common story.
