Comedy shows have been a staple of primetime television since the dawn of the television industry. From 70s and 80s sitcoms to quirky single-camera shows, the classic 30-minute comedy series has entertained viewers for generations.

As the networks scramble to find the next big new TV series from a plethora of submissions and writers, some producers are considering bringing back some popular shows from the past. Although some classic comedy reworkings have failed, there have been quite a few successful comebacks in the past.

1 “The 90s Show” (2023)

It’s a 90’s show sitcom poking fun at 1990s pop culture. The series features characters and locations from the show’s predecessor, It’s a 70’s show.

It’s a 90’s show Set in a fictional version of the decade, it follows Leah Foreman (daughter of Eric Foreman and Donna Pinciotti) 15 years after the events It’s a 70’s show. The show is a comic look at the music, fashion, culture and more of that era. The show also pays homage to its previously mentioned predecessor and does a pretty good job of it - it just got renewed for season 2!

2 “Animaniacs” (2020-)

Animaniacs is an animated television show featuring goofy and cheeky characters including Yakko, Wakko, and Dot (also known as the Warner siblings). Animaniacs is a variety show with many short skits, satires and animated musical performances.

The show was extremely popular in the 90s and has experienced a resurgence. The first season of this revival of the series was released in November 2020 for many eager fans longing for a sense of nostalgia and a reminder of their childhood. Anyone who is looking for a fast and smart watch, Animaniacs perfect.

3 ‘Fuller House’ (2016-2020)

Fuller House sitcom series that aired on Netflix. The series is a continuation of the legendary sitcom of the 1990s. Full house. The show is about DJ Tanner-Fuller, a veterinarian and widowed mother of three sons. Fuller House includes the entire cast of the original series reprising their roles, excluding the adults.

The series is attracting fans of the original series and also attracting new generations of viewers with its touching moments and nostalgic references to the original series. Anyone looking for a fun family show to watch should consider watching. Fuller House.

4 ‘DuckTales’ (2017)

DuckTales is an animated series from Disney that tells about the adventures and adventures of Scrooge McDuck and his three great-nephews (Huey, Dewey and Louie). The series is a reboot of the 1987 children’s series of the same name, an adaptation of uncle scrooge and other Duck Universe comics from Carl Barks.

The series is a lot of fun and contains unique storylines that Disney fans don’t want to miss. The reboot focuses on new elements and deeper character stories, as well as more involvement from Donald Duck.

5 ‘Dynasty’ (2017)

Dynasty is a reboot of the drama television series based on the 1980s primetime soap opera of the same name. The series follows two of America’s richest families, the Carringtons and the Colbys, as they bridge their decades-long gap as they fight for control of their finances and children.

This reboot of the classic soap opera series is actually picking up steam. Anyone looking for witty dialogue, bits of nostalgia and classic elements of heavy drama should check it out. Dyansty.

6 “Saved by the Bell” (2020 - 2022)

Saved by the bell is a sitcom filmed and released on Peacock. The series is a revival of the original series of the same name and also features some of the characters from the original series. The entire cast of the original Saved by the bell played their roles, except Dustin Diamond And Dennis Haskins.

The series ended up receiving positive reviews as the plot focused on a new group of Bayside high schoolers from “over privileged” and middle/working class families. The series had two successful seasons before being canceled in 2022.

7 The Tom and Jerry Show (2014)

Tom and Jerry show is another animated series that has received huge acclaim. The Flash Animated Series was Predated by the Classics Tom and Jerry animated shorts and other animated shows that existed from the 1940s to the early 2000s.

The show features two iconic characters (Jerry the Mouse and Tom the Cat) engaging in their signature battles and chases. The timeless humor and animation style is sure to evoke nostalgia while also entertaining audiences of all ages.

8 “The Wonder Years” (2021)

The Wonder Years is a coming-of-age comedy series that premiered on ABC in 2021. The series is inspired by the fan-favorite 1988 comedy series of the same name. The Wonder Years follows Dean Williams as he grew up in Montgomery, Alabama in the 1960s.

Don Cheadle is the narrator (an older version of Dean) and the series was successfully renewed for a second season in 2022. The show is currently available to stream on Disney+ and is a great watch for fans of the original series.

9 “Arrested Development” (2013-2019)

retarded development is a critically acclaimed comedy series about the Bluts, a dysfunctional and formerly wealthy family. The series is presented in a serialized format and includes various voiceovers, gags, period footage, and handheld camera work.

The show also features Jason Bateman, Will ArnettAnd Tony Hale. The series was revived in 2013, 10 years after the first episode of the original series aired. Anyone looking for a very quirky and weird comedy series should have retarded developmentlined up to watch.

10 “Return” (2014)

One of the returning shows, oddly enough, is called Return. The series was created and the stars Lisa Kudrow as Valerie Cherish, a former actress trying to get back. Return Filmed in mockumentary style, it is a hilarious, satirical take on the entertainment television industry.

The first season was released in 2005 and the reboot was released about nine years later in 2014. No one can ever go wrong with Kudrow and this series does an incredible job of being hilarious as well as a bit dramatic. Such a balance!
