Netflix new movie production, Scoopstarted with Gillian Anderson And Rufus Sewell join the main team. The film tells a 2019 BBC interview about Prince Andrewfriendship with Jeffrey Epstein.

As revealed in a recent Deadline article, Anderson, best known for his roles Margaret Thatcher V Crown and the role of Dana Scully in Secret materialswill play a major role in the new film. The actress will play the former presenter news night, Emily Maitlis, who conducted a 2019 interview with Prince Andrew. Starring opposite her as the disgraced prince will be Sewell, whose last acting performance was in Old like Charles. His casting came after it was revealed last July that Hugh grant (Glass Bow: Mystery of Knives, Bridget Jones) was shortlisted for the role of Prince.

Anderson and Sewell will be joined Keely Hawes And Billie Piper, the latter received approval from the person she portrays. Howes (Bodyguard, Durrells) will play Prince Andrew’s former private secretary. Amanda Thirsk. Piper (Beast, The secret diary of a call girl) will play newsnightproducer Sam McAlistermemoir writer, Sensations: behind the scenes of the BBC’s most shocking interviewson which the new film is based. Macalister was also responsible for negotiating and securing Prince Andrew’s invitation for an interview. “It’s beyond my wildest expectations, especially as an aspiring screenwriter, to end up working with this extraordinary cast, Netflix and the amazing teams at The Lighthouse and Voltage,” McAllister said of the upcoming film, praising the casting choices. “Watching Billie Piper, one of my favorite actresses, play ‘me’ will be a poignant moment for me and I’m really excited to be in this film.”

Scoopdirector, Philip Martin, explained that he wanted to show the world how reporters go the extra mile to get the answers people want. “I am thrilled to be directing this film for Netflix and - along with an outstanding cast - to bring to the screen a revealing insider version of Sam McAlister,” Martin, who also served as director Crown, delighted with the project. “Fast, exciting and cinematic, I want to immerse the audience in the breathtaking sequence of events that led to the interview with Prince Andrew - to tell a story about searching for answers in a world of speculation and diverse memories.” He went on to explain that the film will allow viewers to see how stories are shaped in the media and their ability to shape viewers’ opinions. “This is a film about power, privilege and different points of view, and how - whether in glittering palaces or high-tech newsrooms - we judge what is true.”

Scoop, which was first revealed to be in development last year, will focus on the women responsible for exposing Prince Andrew’s connection to Epstein and ultimately bringing him into disgrace. The film will show viewers the obstacles faced by those involved in obtaining an interview with the Prince, from fighting the Palace veto and high-stakes negotiations to rehearsing questions and covering the interview itself. The film will also give viewers an inside look at both the Palace and the BBC. Martin will direct the film, and Hilary Salmon And Radford Neville producing The Lighthouse Film & Television and Sanjay Singhal production for Voltage TV.
