Rick Riordanbest selling Percy Jackson and the Olympians the series was loved and cherished by many so much that two films were shot on it with the participation of Logan Lerman. While the films were not commercially successful, resulting in the cancellation of a planned third film, Lerman was quick to praise the upcoming next attempt at book adaptations, which is set to premiere on Disney+, in particular the lead role. Walker Scobellwho takes on the role of the demigod Percy from Lerman.
Lerman played the demigod hero of the same name in Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters. Now that Riordan has a hand in the upcoming adaptation of the series, the actor, while promoting the second season HuntersComicBook told ComicBook that the adaptation would be nothing short of great, given the cast and creative team involved in the series: “Obviously it’s Rick Riordan. It will be exactly what it should be and I hope the fans enjoy it. I will definitely look into it. I’m curious to see what they do with it. I have no doubt it will be great. I’m sure it will be fantastic.”
When asked about advice he could give Poseidon’s new son, Lerman quickly replied, “I don’t think he needs advice. The kid is really talented,” saying that the only advice he can give Scobell is to enjoy playing the part, just as he did when he portrayed the lead. He then added, “I think when you’re young, at least when I was younger doing it and other actors, you almost forget to enjoy it since you’re part of what I did… I really enjoyed it while i did it. Just enjoy every second and enjoy the newness of what you are doing and the fact that you are part of something like that. That would be the only thing I would say to him. But even then I would feel a bit of a jerk giving him advice. You are wonderful. You are here for a reason. Just do your job.”
The cast of the upcoming Disney+ series also includes Leah Sava Jeffries like Annabeth Chase Dior Goudjon like Clarissa La Rue, Charlie Bushnell like Luke Castellan, Aryan Simhadri like Grover Underwood, Megan Mullally like Alecto, Jason Mantzoukas like Dionysus, Lin-Manuel Miranda like Hermes Virginia Kull like Sally Jackson Adam Copeland like Ares and Suzanne Cryer like Echidna.
There is currently no release date for the series, but Riordan has stated that they are aiming to release it on Disney+ in early 2024. He also clarified that the show will stay true to the original material and we are all excited about that, including Percy Jackson from the film adaptation.
