At the start of the shot, Cathy is fed up with following the orders of her chef, with whom she strongly disagrees, leading her to leave in hopes of opening her own establishment. She takes a job at a dorm cafeteria for financial support, but is shocked to learn that it is for young migrants and many of them. Immediately she is overwhelmed by this task. The kitchen is much worse than what she is used to, and cooking 70 meals a day is an absurd request. That’s when the dorm manager gets the idea to let the boys work in the kitchen with Cathy. Although their culinary knowledge is limited, they are fascinated by Cathy’s skills and want to learn from her. Gradually they become a well-oiled kitchen crew full of heart and hustle, and even Cathy finds joy in a job she once thought was bleak.

COLLIDER VIDEO OF THE DAY

Petya’s latest trailer looks like an upbeat drama, never lingering too long on the hardships Katy faces before showing the joy she gets from her job. While the focus is on how well young people cook and learn to team up, it is clear that Kitchen Brigade Katy learns to have fun in the kitchen and becomes a respectable and empathetic leader. The passion she instills in children can be felt in every scene, teasing with touching hours.
