At the center of most horror fans’ nightmares has been Mike Flanagan. Now the genius director of the genre along with his partner Trevor Macysigned a new exclusive contract under their Intrepid Pictures label with Amazon Studios.
As part of a multi-year deal, the pair will develop and produce projects that will air exclusively on Prime Video, according to a Deadline report. The news comes as Flanagan and Macy’s previous deal with Netflix comes to an end. Speaking of an exciting new deal with global television head Amazon Studios, Vernon Sanders, said, “Mike and Trevor are wonderful at telling gripping, intense stories that masterfully keep the audience on their toes from start to finish.” They concluded, “We are delighted to welcome them to Amazon Studios and look forward to seeing our customers around the world experience their creativity.” Flanagan and Macy also joined in the words:
“Amazon is a studio that we have long admired. Their drive to be involved in groundbreaking series and content is in the spirit of what we have built at Intrepid. We look forward to working with the entire Amazon team as we bring our genre brand to the service and audiences around the world.”
This is amazing news for any horror fan, especially if you’re a fan of Flanagan’s extensive creepy library of work. Flanagan, if we talk about the modern genre, is perhaps the best horror film director working today. No other director has influenced the genre in both film and television like Flanagan. As for cinema, the screenwriter-director has created such masterpieces as Oculus, Quiet, Gerald’s gameas well as Doctor Sleep. His amazing TV projects include The ghosts of the house on the hill, The Haunting of Bly Manor, midnight massand recent hit YA midnight club. Netflix rarely releases its exclusive content on Blu-ray, and much of Flanagan’s work is for streamers like midnight mass, Quietas well as Gerald’s game never received a physical release. Amazon, on the other hand, has shown support for physical media more regularly with its recent Blu-ray releases of its hit series. boys as well as Reacher are prime examples.
